It was set inbetween Infinty War and Endgame the 2 reacord breaking films and rumor was CM was going to play a part in the resolution of the series. Would be interisting to see it perform at the start of a phase.
Disney bought hundreds of thousands of dollars of tickets. It was a sham. She turned off fans. She is hated by all MCU cast members. She is a disaster. She is toxic.
Given the state of the movie industry I actually would not be surprised if this is true. Productions are halted due to COVID and I think that has given a lot more leverage to the studios over actors. I cant say for sure but when you got Alexandra Daddario turning to YouTube and Bale joining an MCU production, I can't help but think its slim pickings for B-Listers to get a role and for A-Listers for anything that isnt a mass-market blockbuster. Leticia Wright who plays Shuri should be very very worried for being a transphobe and anti-vaxxer.
The movie made a ton of money. Whatever reason you guys want to find for the reason doesn’t mean much. It made over a billion dollars. Everything else you’re talking about is irrelevant to the conversation.
Wich is predictable cause record breaking Infinity War film ends with Nick Fury calling her for help and all the hype was she was going to be the one to defeat Thanos in record breaking film Endgame.

Yeah, I've talked about her range of powers at length with the people I tagged. I probably should have tagged you, @Aegon Spengler and @KnightTemplar also.
Even ignoring her insane powers in the comics, just look at what's she's done in the films. Sure, Captain Marvel's shown us a lot of brute force smashing starships, but Wanda was kicking Thano's ass so hard he had to call in an airstrike.
She held him off while he had FOUR infinity stones.
Wanda's vengeance moments were some of the most badass things we've seen in MCU movies. This is one of my favorite moments from any superhero film.
Captain Marvel is a true Heavyweight. No one is seriously disputing that. But Wanda is a different league from just about everyone. As has already been pointed out, she held Thanos at bay with one hand while killing Vision with the other. The Mad Titan was rocking four Infinity Gems at that point, and Wanda wasn't even at her peak strength.
By the time of Endgame, she was able to effortlessly besmirch Thanos, to the point he had to call in an airstrike on his own army just to stop her tearing him apart. Bonus points for Olsen absolutely nailing Wanda's cold-blooded rage.
Wanda, "You took everything from me!"
Thanos, "I don't even know who you are!"
Wanda, "You will"
And I suspect we won't see her true potential until WandaVision, when she literally breaks the Multiverse itself.
Wanda with That Look in her eye>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>everyone else.*

"Guys can't handle a powerful female character" is such a load of shit. It's a rubbish excuse for bad writing. If Rey had been written properly we would have loved her, but she was fan fiction, not a developed character.
There haven't been many great strong female characters but when they come we accept and love them..
We also reserve the right to complain about the bad ones.

Exactly. No one called Ripley, Leia or Sarah Conner "Mary Sues". They were well written and played by actresses at the top of their game. And the guys in the audience cheered for them when they finally beat the Big Bad. Because we knew they had earned their victory through courage, suffering and hard work.

If a movie makes a lot of money despite a bad element, imagine how much it can make if you improve it.
I like Brie Larson, thought she was amazing in Room, but she's been terrible in this. She's even terrible in interviews and she's been alienating a fan base that is really important to the franchise.

So you are basically agreeing the actress is not as important as the MCU formula is. As for you question BP became a cultural phenom in the USA, its one of the few if not only MCU film were the larger part of his bank came from domestic box office. That used to be the norm 20 years ago with the early wave of superhero films, but not now, Endgame domestic revenue was like 30% of the total.
No one knew before watching Endgame, lots of people wanted to see CM to find out why Nick Fury called this superheroine and what role she was going to play in Endgame.
A film that made more than two billion dollars ends in catastrophe and the guy who started The Avengers sending a plea for help to a character nobody had ever heard of, and you don't think that influenced people to go see the first film featuring that character?
