I find it ultra shady that Cap Marvel was the only MCU movie where there were allegations of “conspiracy to inflate numbers,” and it so happens to be the movie starring internet scapegoat Brie who a lot of people like to project their anger with the left/identity politics onto.
Basically I see it like this- people who went in with an ax to grind because they don’t like Brie’s Twitter feed were hoping for the movie to tank so they could say Brie is box office poison, get woke, go broke and whatever else. The movie was a resounding success- and why wouldn’t it be- the final scene from the absolutely huge Infinity War hyped it up and it was perfectly placed six weeks before the release of the hugely anticipated Endgame- so those same people hoping for its failure started in with the- “oh there were empty theaters by my house,” “theaters were giving out tickets,” etc etc
reminds me of when I was hearing DJT would take Pennsylvania cause there were more lawn signs for him than Joe.
if Disney went through all these machinations to make sure Captain Marvel looked to do better than it did, why wouldn’t Warners have done something similar for Justice League where an entire franchise was contingent on that film being massive. It appeared to have tanked because it tanked.
Captain Marvel appeared to have grossed a lot of money because it grossed a lot of money.
Not everything is a conspiracy.
There were sold out theaters that were empty. Sure it made money, but no the claimed amount.
And Larson's fellow MCU actors can't even hide their disdain for her.
