On another note, who writes this crap?

"
Eight years after a player coup took France from pool-stage calamity in losing to Tonga to the World Cup final
"

They didn't lose to Tonga in the final eight yesterday ago.. They lost to a team with Tongans in it!

... comment made firmly tongue in cheek. Off the top of my head, I can't think of a player that started that was on Tonga heritage. A few of Samoan heritage though

Lol tldr.

I just posted the first thing I could Google on the bloody thing. There's probably better articles on this shit in French somewhere on the net.

TMO ruining another good game of rugby. Also another French ref messing it up on the field.

Great and respectful crowds for this world cup but the action is nothing like 2015 and WR/IRB need to address it as your not getting new fans through when the refs think there the star of the show.

I haven't really minded the refs. I think they have done a decent job and called the rules as set. They've been told to be tough on certain things and have been.

I think there's a few that's been over the top the last few years though.

I might have to hand in my Kiwi card for this next comment, but I watched a game a few days ago and was really impressed by how Wayne Barnes managed the game.

Looking like some games are going to get cancelled this week.

Cancelled not postponed.

England v France one of them.

If Japan v Scotland gets called, Scotland are out and Japan go through! Dodgy.

Absolutely fucked and complete bullshit if the Scotland Japan game isn’t made up. Do it a day or two later.

They’d have to, surely.

England and France probably don’t care either way.

You would think. But from I’ve been reading, they will rule it a draw.

Scotland=fucked.

Would mean Japan wins the group and 1/4 would be SA v Japan and NZ v Ireland.

SA will be laughing.

I have a feeling that should Australia play England in our quarter final which is most likely our RWC ends there and Englands continues, even if we win that likely sets up a game with New Zealand in the semi final which is also not ideal.

I'd have liked to have seen England throw the match vs France for an easier route to the final but as that was never going to happen it really doesn't matter that the game is off and the same with NZ vs Italy.
Scotland vs Japan would be a shame if it's cancelled but it's not like either of them are making it past the quarter final anyway. Scotland would just be saved a hammering by NZ.

Is that right?
The Ireland vs Samoa game isn't off so won't they be top (if they score 4 tries and win)? Japan and Ireland would both be on 16 points.
Or is the tie breaker who won the group match because they'd be level on points and Ireland will have a better points difference.

Tie-breaking criteria

If two or more teams are tied on match points, the following tiebreakers apply:

  1. The winner of the match between the two teams
  2. Difference between points scored for and points scored against in all pool matches
  3. Difference between tries scored for and tries scored against in all pool matches
  4. Points scored in all pool matches
  5. Most tries scored in all pool matches
  6. Official World Rugby Rankings as of 14 October 2019

Wales - SA - NZ or Aus - NZ - SA

Bitch of a run either way.

That's fine then, I was being too lazy to check.
