Rowdy Bec is back!

Moving up if you have weight cutting problems is the right thing, but you should expect people to be stronger. She said that she was surprised with JRC strength, i mean, really? LOL ofc a bantamweight moving down would be stronger than a 115er

Jessy is stupidly strong, to Bec's credit. She is one of a kind.

I never have disliked Rawlings. I saw her as a capable enough fighter making a good decision to fight down at 115lbs on the wider stage. She did not have the skills to make a splash at 125lbs prior to her stint In Invicta but at 115lbs between her boxing, decent clinch game, and relatively decent wrestling I thought she could do fairly wall at 115lbs in Invicta. I recall her characterizing her striking as throwing BOLOs - she knew she needed to improve there too.

Rotten luck with her having an knee injury (and other problems) going into her fight with Mizuki. (That was a somewhat close fight.)

But between the UFC bringing in the 115ers and all of the new fighters there she just fell behind. She has made strides at trying to be a better fighter but it has been an uphill battle. I figured Jessy Jess would beat her down too but Rawlings did okay. I thought it was a solid UD for Jessy Jess though, no a SD, but still decent showing from Rawlings.

Agreed on this next fight with Evans-Smith possibly being her last UFC fight. Rawlings will have trouble with Evans-Smiths wrestling. I do worry that Evans-Smith will have a hard time with her weight cut though. A ray of light for Rawlings, perhaps?

I do think Rawlings would do well in Bellator at 125lbs. I think she can beat about half of their flyweights without too much trouble and be competitive with a decent number of others. There are between 3-5* who ought to be strongly favored over her there.

Hopefully she can make it work out for her.

You generally have some insight into things. Any idea why Evans-Smith is cutting? I always thought she was a large WBW, and this is something I have a fairly decent eye for.

I rarely make comments like this.

As bad as she comes across on TV and the net, she is even worse in person. The one time I met her was three times too many.
She's actually pretty cool and easy going in person. I'd heard about her antics prior to training with her, and I was honestly surprised that she is somewhat leveled one-on-one.

Of course, as soon as she has an audience she flips a switch and is all about the attention and looking like a badass. The Bec from TUF who was a pain in the ass is the same person when there's more than 3 people listening to her.

Its just how she is. To give her props though, she's pretty down to earth if you take away the audience. Quite funny too.

I think she knows several women fighting in the UFC at flyweight have history at featherweight like herself. Her last fight with Moras probably left her feeling she is just not strong at bantamweight. (Edit. I will add Ketlen Vieira too. Evans-Smith was physically dominated in that fight.**) For all of Ashlee Evans-Smith's accomplishments in wrestling she has often seemed under powered in her fights against decent opponents except for her one fight with Pennington where she looked great until she was caught by that submission at the end of round one.

Taken all together I think she is looking at a need to cut down.

Having visited with her before I felt she was pretty big, this is prior to her actually doing MMA*. She was in college along with Esparza, both wrestling together. She was pretty big, huge by comparison to Esparza of course. Thick frame. Decent height like 5'8 or so. So I have a hard time seeing her making weight with ease but she is struggling to get it together at bantamweight.

I just can't help but think she feels underpowered and is looking for somewhere she is not feeling so weak in comparison to others. And seeing success at others who have managed to cut down that much.

Sorry this is a bit of a messy post but it is hard seeing her at flyweight to be honest.

* (Edit) When I met her and Esparza (and a friend of theirs) I found out she is a vegetarian. I can't help but think her long time interest in alternate dieting and nutrition has contributed to her thinking but that is speculation.

**A big takeaway from all of this is that Evans-Smith really seems to be concerned that she is underpowered against the bigger and stronger women at bantamweight. She probably knows she can't match them physically and much of her skillset is wrestling based. That is a problem that could be fixed with a move down in weight - maybe.

I should have done this a few days ago. Evans-Smith is looking good as a thinner woman. I hope she fights well as one.

Her head is a bit bigger then her body now. Otherwise looking good. She seems to have managed to frame down fairly well but the proof will be in the pudding - her up coming fight.

Ok, thank you for the insight. Not going to comment on the vegetarian issue.

Ah, ok. Perhaps I just interacted with her on the worst day of her life.

You're welcome.

The vegetarian just kind of popped into my mind when I started thinking about her and how she might look at where her strength is. Very speculative.

Jesus Munoz is fat as shit now. And she has a nice body, that’s about it.

I was always a bit confused by her difficulty making Straweight. It always seemed to me that she came into the cage carrying, to put it gently, "unproductive" weight. I understand everyone's body and metabolism are different, but carrying extra fat when weight cutting seems really strange to me. If this is what you choose to do for a living, be disciplined about it. Drop the extra weight, and either make the cut easier, or give yourself room for productive weight (muscle).

Brazilian with a 2017 join date who knows nothing about mma is actually arguing with me about Bec Rawlings lol

Go watch Palmeiras, let the real fans talk about fighting

Implies that sherdog join dates mean the date one started watching mma…proceeds to call bec the female wandy.

LMAO…

She’s obnoxious, 2-4 record in the ufc, ugly, not marketable, horrible tats, hangs out with losers, got switch kick kod lol (first time in ufc WMMA history)…need I honestly continue???

Again, why the fuck is she still in the ufc???

Flyweight eh?

At this rate there won’t be much 115ers and 135ers.

Actually the UFC has a surplus of strawweights right now—well over 40. I predict 115 and 125 will have the most fighters when everything settles down.
