Social Roseanne tweets outrageously racist comment about former Obama staffer Valerie Jarrett

I don't understand how people can be surprised that an old person said something mildly racist.

It's about as predictable as the sun coming up tomorrow. Were you people just born yesterday?
Now it's old people who always do a thing.
Let's focus on Roseanne's behavior, not try to excuse it by applying her behavior broadly to other faceless people who aren't involved.
It's intellectually dishonest at best.

I read about 12 pages of it and skipped to page 22. Are people still asking if the comments were racist?

th

Probably not a good idea to make "She looks like an Ape" type joke when the president of your network looks like this...

Reported.

Reasonable people will blame the person/entity firing them for firing them.

So Madoff's employees blamed the Feds and not Madoff? I doubt it.

Anyone with a brain looks for the person ultimately responsible. When CEO's of large companies make mistakes and have to lay people off they rely on low level HR people to do the dirty work. Those fired know who is really to blame.

Eeehhhh you may as well claim to have done it. You’re lumped in with that bunch of yokels politically speaking anyhoo.

Lump me in wherever you want, I didn’t come in this thread making excuses for that cunt and her Twitter comments. Honestly, I don’t care about the opinions of liberals on a karate forum.

Roseanne is a full blown Trump fan.

Trump supporters tend to have a tendency to be racist turd buckets.

More at 11.
But the alt right do not have the sole rights to the classification of racist. People who are not alt right can be racist as well. She may be a Trumpest and she is clearly racist, but I see no links to the alt right.

This was done on purpose. She wanted to scuttle the show, the question now is why.

Good call.

Ah, so declaring this an awful racist country unworthy of standing for while at work using the company's platform is just exercising their 1st amendment rights, while making a stupid tweet completely separate from work clearly is not. They didn't fire Roseanne, they canceled the entire show and everyone on it.

So which side are you on? Is it right to fire both NFL players and Roseanne, or is it wrong in both cases, or are you pretty damn inconsistent?

I think you give her too much credit (ie: that this fits some kind of plan) for an incredibly stupid thing she has said. It is hardly like this came out of nowhere either.

Have you read much of this thread? Applying Roseanne's actions to others is most of what is happening here.

To me this entire thing is simple. Roseann's politics aren't shared by her network, but they didn't care because it was a popular show. Then Roseanne took to twitter or somesuch and made nasty racial/religiously bigoted comments. To add to the problem, the comment wasn't even funny. We've seen the whole build up of outrage leading to boycott, leading to belated action quite a few times now. The network got out in front of all that and fired her ass and dumped her show. I'm glad they did it quickly. Less mess that way imo.

If I thought "alt right" was absolutely synonymous with "racist" (it actually is in its derivation but not universally in its current usage) I wouldn't have used both terms together.

I do see alt right as synonymous with Trump supporter, however.
So 50% of America are Alt right? Your side is always bitching at us for painting people in broad strokes, but yet here you are doing the same thing.

The Alt Right are running this everywhere.

What did you like about that post? It seems like the kind of thing that only a total fucking retard would like.

For me it is right in both cases. Though I am happy with the compromise the NFL reached where no players will be forced to stand for the anthem, but have the choice to remain in the locker room. It's the first smart reaction they've had imo.

I don't like the idea of employers checking up on what their employees are doing or saying online. I don't like the idea that an otherwise competent employee can be punished for wrong think. That said, public figures like celebrities, politicians, etc will be held to account for things they say and do that hurt their company's image (or undermine the public trust in the gov't).

It's not intentional. I'm legitimately confused why Chris Rock can get his own show and Rosanne gets cancelled because of a tweet.
I suppose the vagaries of humor and context are beyond you.

Or you're just pretending to be unable to comprehend.

It's that, isn't it? Yes, I think it is.
