Certainly not. Not even close.

Like it or not, female MMAist marketable swings 80 percent on looks, with the rest being "persona" and intersecting with political narratives that TPTB want to promote (like grrrrrllll power, "women are equal to men in everything" styled feminism, etc...).

No one really cares (much) if a fighter is "pleasant" or has a good personality. Just like wimminz don't actually prefer (as demonstrated by their actions) "nice guys" compared to men who powerbomb them through the kitchen table.

Clearly Ronda, Meisha, Gina, Cyborg, Holly, Megan and Paige are all more marketable than Rose. Sure some are not and maybe will not ever be champions, but considering Rose has been around since 2014 TUF and she is only scarcely talked about there is no reason to be getting excited about her marketability.

I think nows a good time is to start getting excited considering she just KOd the most dominant female champion since Rousey.

Agreed those aren't the most important factor, but it helps.

I don't see why not, especially if she holds on to the belt for awhile.

I think this is the key. She has a personality that wins over anyone who can see through the evil in their heart BUT she'd have to be in the public face for a while before they see that since she's not as forceful a personality as Ronda. She doesn't give a shit about things like being popular NEARLY as much as most champs, and especially not nearly as much as Ronda.

Rose won't work for popularity. She'll work on her soul and spirit. Love that lady.

Joanna has been the latest and greatest hyped, but she still didnt seem to hit the mainstream appeal. Ronda obviously, but I think Rose has them both beat.

Rose is more attractive. Has a pleasant personality. Has a more interesting background. Well rounded. Doesn't look like a gollum/wicked witch love child. Lithuanian fan base.

UFC has got to be thrilled. Rose will be raking in that Metro PCS money with force very soon.

Rose needs to grow her hair back

There have been a handful of WMMAists that have exhibited a fair amount of dominance over their peers with preciously little marketable, following, etc...(Cyborg being the best example). Not to mention that Rose has a fairly small personality.

People just don't care about fighting ability and "likeable" personality by comparison to physical attractiveness and a persona with some sort of conflict attached to it. It might be unfortunate, but that's the way it is.

Edit: Obviously, I hope I'm wrong. She's extremely easy to root for and very likeable and worthy of respect...but Sherdog is definitely not representative of the population as a whole.

Oh true. I forgot she actually lost to Rose. Don't follow WMMA too closely. I'm a fan, still. You may have a point. As others have said though, needs to grow the hair out if appearances are to matter.
