Rory MacDonald explains controversial comments about Robbie Lawler, performance-enhancing drug use

If so, then roids are responsible for one the most exciting WW title reigns in years.

All the more reason to legalize and popularize them. :D

There was a time when everybody thought Rory was on steroids too. Remember all the "bacne" comments? lol

Conor looking buff there.

Had a late career resurgence, hasn't looked good since USADA.

usada has been up and running since 2015 which means the 2nd Rory fight and the Condit fight were both usada fights and he looked like a monster in those. Then he got flash KOd by Woodley which can happen to anyone and then looked like his usual self against Cerrone more or less.

He didn't look good against Cerrone, a 155er, and at least half think he lost. That Rory fight was pretty much the last event before random testing so he could have cycled off by then. USADA went in effect July 1st, that fight was the 11th.

Edit: also the test conducted by NSAC just before the Rory fight he would have failed in several aspects under WADA guidelines

Doesn't he train with GSP? Lol?!?!

Edit: if he really was "totally not crying about it" he would have answered the question with a "I'm not sure" (even if he was).

What does training with GSP have to do with believing lawler was on roids?

Uh just look at op to see all the fights he passed usada testing in including the wars vs Rory
Uh, the Rory fight was shortly after USADA took effect and he wasn't random'd for that one. Uh, the NSAC test that was conducted before that fight would have had him fail under WADA guidelines. Uh.

It is very suspicious, the guy was 19-9 before his second UFC stint and somehow he has an amazing career resurgence when he's over 30 knocking everybody senseless.

Why should he lie just to make sure you don't get the wrong impression?

I haven't watched this fight since it happened. Did he really 'never slow down'. I recall Lawler in other fights usually taking a round off.

Robbie shattered Rorys dream and he's upset about it. He beat his ass, smashed his face until Rory quit and pissed clean afterwards. End of story. Zero failed tests. Go get that silver medal of title belts.

I have heard from two separate friends who have trained at ATT (Coconut Creek gym) that their introduction to ATT was pretty much a walkthrough of the gym and a goodie bag of steroids at the end lol. I kind of wonder if that has anything to do with Robbie leaving ATT as he doesn't seem to really want to discuss it.

I have 4 friends that trained at ATT (Coconut Creek gym) and they said nah.

Can anyone bring up the test results for robbie his extreme low testosterone levels in a test? That was suspicious according to people who have knowledge of what those stats could imply.

nah, the Rory/Lawler fight was after the program started but the first three months was only educational.

Event testing for UFC 189 was Nevada AThletic Comission NOT usada. (Nevada published all the test data)

1st July - program started but first three months educational
30th september - first wherabouts deadline
1st october - unnanounced out of competition testing started

Personally im confident Robbie was gimicked for 189. His output in fights since was considerably lower.

Uh just look at op to see all the fights he passed usada testing in including the war vs Rory

as above,USADA did not handle the testing for UFC 189

Robbie had some wildly suspect levels (as noted by TS and his BE link) as soon as USADA started, but under NSAC.

He then had his spectacular split decision - highly controversial - win over Condit.

Got one-punch KO'd by Woodley.

Eeked past Cowboy in a razor thin decision.

We really don't know, but considering those levels there's nothing wrong with Rory saying he is suspicious.

Let's throw Lawler in water and see if he sinks.

It's the only way to be sure.
