For what? The truth? Timing of retirement and his own words says everything in my opinion. He should have at least fought one more fight to clear the Hendricks blemish. What is four months and a planned retirement fight (for plenty more PPV $$$$). Otherwise the controversy is what we get.
And why come back to fight Bisping? Legacy or not wanting to lose? Why not come back versus a Top 5 MW? Why come back versus the previous MW#6 guy? A win over anyone ranked in the MW Top 5 would have been far more impressive with no belt. And if you get a belt and side track a division as the un-ranked guy jumping over the contenders, then why not at least have one defense? But he was closed mouthed and then suddenly a medical issue is claimed and he is gone again.
As a comparison Fedor has continued fighting well beyond his prime. He has wins and loses and doesn't care. The same goes for Aldo. Aldo lost his belt and simply re-geared to continue his career. Both of these guys are judged on GOAT discussions for their Prime, not after they ended their belt runs.
