Ronaldo Jacar

It clearly says "No one holds me down" as the title of the article so it wasn't just TS.
No where in the article does Jacare say ''No One Holds me on the Ground''. What he does say is what I quoted, and responded to.

And then I got 3 of you goobers arguing with me about some shit Jacare never even said. Sure is Sherdog.

Jacare was actually the one that scrambled out from the bottom and got to his feet.

i don't get it--he's not really a wrestler, so the statement is neither here nor there.

but i agree that jacare's not someone who's going to be lnp'd.

edit: my bad, i re-read what you quoted. got it.

The irony. You, sir, are a great example of your own statement. Usually, the dumbest people aren't self-aware, or even smart enough, to know how dumb they are.

Let's not forget the huge improvements in Jacare's striking game however.
I don't know about huge improvement so much as a realization that he can throw very, very hard shots (and right hands in particular) when he wants to. Otherwise, videos of him working the pads for example show some fundamental deficiencies in technique like not shifting weight from foot to foot, compromising base, etc., which leads to combinations where pretty much only one strike is really significant (because there is not as smooth a resetting of the stance after shots due to unrefined technique/overcommitment). Basically, he's not that good at setting-up any of his techniques, but if he does manage to put hands on you then you're fucked. Like Hendo.

Nonetheless, what he can do on the feet is obviously way more effective than what most grapplers of his caliber can manage, like Roger Gracie for example. The shot he bombed Okami out with was vicious, and the overhand in response to a telegraphed low kick he used there is a very basic yet nonetheless effective counter which would work well even against less mediocre strikers than Okami; in fact, Anderson Silva himself basically did the same thing to James Irvin when he caught a telegraphed low kick then actually knocked Irvin out with his naturally dominant (right) hand to the jaw in the same exchange.

I don't know if he'll ever learn to do things like slip a jab while landing his own, or use a 1-2 to set-up body shots or use good footwork to take angles or anything like that though, but in all fairness, there are only so many hours in the day. And he poses a submission threat to anybody in the world, obviously...

re: the thread title, I think Jacare is saying that he is very confident in his ability to escape the bottom or stand-up from guard even if he gets taken down; which makes sense given that he is a top player, and having a top game is pretty useless without the ability to continually return to there (which is a skillset that a grappler like Barnett also exhibits).

I hope Jacare gets another exciting finish, Carmont is a skilled fighter but I don't think he will be able to get the win this time
