Romero: No it is not a good idea to go to 205

he's clearly struggling to make weight nowadays, why put the guys health at risk? he should move up
apparently according to sherdorks .2 lbs over the weight limit is absolutely unnacceptable and calls into question the legitimacy of a fight

He had a full camp to make weight for a title shot, but did he?

Simple question, did he miss weight? Yes or no?

It's always something with romero. Haven't seen another fighter who the entire world was out to get like romero.

We all know Tyron is the most disrespected fighter in UFC history. He told us himself.

Yah he barely missed but clearly he's pushing his body to the absolute extreme limit to (not) make 185.

What's there left for him to do at 185? Him getting another title shot any time soon is dubious at best. On the other hand he's instantly getting what will probably be an interim title shot at 205.

Fixed for you. And yes, that's exactly what habitually missing weight does.

DC is 5'10 39 and rag dolled LHW's like nothing, dominated a 29 year old Volkan like nothing. Yoel and DC come from similar wrestling backgrounds, I think Yoel does great at LHW imo

DC was a HW who moved down in weight and was much Younger when he did it

Has he missed weight in his other fights that are not last minute to keep a card alive, or where commission wont let you get the time your allowed?

<{hughesimpress}>

Last time it was over a month out and he was in camp for another fight. Excuse I get it let it slide

He missed weight the first time he came to scale, he had all the time in the world before that one.

And he weighed in two hrs later the second time.

If the commission felt he wasn’t getting anywhere or was unable to keep going that’s on him. He should ha e made weight the first time up like the 25 other fighters on the card did.

No excuses, he’s too heavy, maybe only by 5lbs but he’s too heavy for the class obviously.

Needs to drop some mass or move up, no excuses for twice in a row.

This is intellectually dishonest.

He had 6 weeks to make weight for Rockhold and missed on his first attempt by 3.3 lbs. That is completely absurd. The fight was announced to the press as a signed deal with a full month, so he knew in advance of that.

In his very next fight - for the real title - he got on the scale overweight again. This time with months to prepare. There is simply no excuse and frankly Rockhold got a very raw deal. Showing up on weight is the first most basic responsibility you have as a fighter.

This is now two title fights in a row he didn't make weight, on 6 weeks and multiple months notice, respectively. That indicates he's either trying to skirt the rules, or simply cannot make it.

If you reward him with another interim title shot, we're saying rules don't apply to Yoel Romero. It would be a great mistake.

Failing to make weight twice in a row should automatically bump you up a weight division, and you need to win to ask for a third shot moving back down.

This intelligent post wrecks the argument of TS.

Curious what justification there will be when misses weight the next time.

Honestly, I think Yoel wrecks anyone at 205 other than DC/Jones. A Yoel that doesn't kill himself to get down to 185 the day before the fight would conceivably have better cardio, and his power would no doubt still be a factor at 205. Personally I would have loved to see a Yoel/Whittaker trilogy fight, but it doesn't really make sense now that Rob is technically 2-0 in the record books. There's nothing left for Yoel at 185.

I guarantee he just wants the MW belt and then the LHW one.

Yoel has been cutting weight for years since his wresslin days but he is in his 40s now. It will be harder for him to cut weight as time goes by. Too much punishment on his body as well. He gets bashed for not making weight and its true that its his fault but his body is not responding well to that massive weight cut at his age.

When title fights become non-title fights it is unacceptable. People tune in to see a headline title fight. When the shot at the title isn't happening, as advertised, TWO TIMES, it is an issue. The rule is exactly on target for a title fight. Isn't like that was a surprise sprung on him.

Play by the rules, if you can't, there should be repercussions. What is so hard to understand about that?

Cos you like to put bullshit in caps, I'll hell you......
HE MISSED WEIGHT TWICE AND THIS TIME HE WAS 2 POUNDS OVER NOT .2.
HE NEEDED AN EXTENSION THEREFOR HE FUCKED UP IN THE FIRST PLACE.
GET OVER IT.

Needs to restock his supply of Cuban vitamins. If he can conquer this weight issue, he'll go down as the greatest all-Natty fighter of all time.
