Really looks like Dana using this as an excuse to take away a TS from a guy on a ten fight winning LW streak blew up in his face and is not going to age well if even Rogan is already questioning the decision.

“So, he’s (White) punishing him (Makhachev) for not doing something stupid? Because that’s not a wise move to fight in the main event (when) you’re right about to fight for the title.

The reason why this doesn't make sense is because he actually hadn't earned the title shot. He was supposed to fight Dariush, got out of that on a technicality and then refused to fight someone else.

Islam earned the title shot more than Chandler, Gaethje or anyone else includes Conor.

Just look at the betting odds at Islam vs. Oliveira and see why Islam deserves it.

UFC would've probably given him a title shot even if he lost to RDA. Wouldn't be the first time that's happened, heck it just happened recently.

I’m sure as a promoter it probably would be irksome when a fighter says he’ll take a fight but doesn’t. But it’s pretty likely there’s more to it. His team probably talked him out of the unnecessary risk when having the title shot lined up or the promotion didn’t make an enticing offer. Dana is definitely not a reliable source for how everything went down. Would be pretty on brand for him to play fast and loose with the facts to give the cash cow an undeserved opportunity.

he was always gonna get leapfrogged by Conor, what Conor wants Conor gets, until Islam starts sellin over 1M PPVs any time he please then he's gonna have to sit in line n play the game. If you don't play the game, the game will play you..

Not so sure about that with Gaethje, but let's not derail this thread. I do agree with Conor and Chandler though.

I doubt Benny makes it back in time. Islam will be next, I'm sure. There was no reason for Islam to take that fight.
You’d think so but isn’t this about the time Conor will be back? I could see Dana waiting out on Islam who (fights beneil, chandler, or someone else he justifies for turning down the fight on a few days notice) so Conor can have the shot, assuming Charles wins.

it’s not right, but, well, it is what it is.

I think it was as simple as Islam said he would take the fight and didn’t, so Dana was pissed and said “ok, now you have to fight Dariush.”

I will be really surprised if Conor actually comes back straight to a title shot.

Bobby Green is a real man, he did what Islam was not willing to do which is take a short notice fight.

Conor isn't getting the shot. I really think he's going to fight Jorge, Diaz or Gaethje next depending on fight outcomes.

You're right, time will tell.

even the original winner wasn't going to get a title shot a year later

Islam said that he was sent a contract at night with a deadline in the morning. There was some detail that he wanted changed or negotiated, but during that night nobody was reachable, and by the morning it was basically set and the flght fell through.
