RIZIN, MMA, betting thread

sorry. i'm too emotionally invested in this one.

Yeah I'm also a big Kanehara guy and have been for a while. I was surprised the UFC let him go after how good of a fight he gave Michael McDonald. I just think he's in his 40's and Suzuki has stiffened Patricio, knocked out Karamov from his back and is improving fast as a guy fighting 4-5 times a year against decent comp at the moment. I worry whether Kanehara can get out of the way of the punches and I don't think he exactly had a granite chin in his prime, never mind as a 41 year old.

Of course Kanehara is still very tight on top so he might well get him down early in each round, keep position confidently and make me look stupid.

I feel like the odds reflect Erbst/Chihiro not happening. Chihiro got dominated.

He did but during the last two years he's also beaten Patricio Pitbull, Vugar Karamov, Yoshiki Nakahara, Masazuki Imanari and Ren Hiramoto. I think he's the kind of guy who's constantly working to improve the holes in his game. Feels like he could be a future UFC ranked guy to me.

Took a small stab at Sora before bed. 275+ is crazy, all his last 3 losses were grapplers with 2 having good experience .

Nazimov wins aren't super high level, he's got fewer square ring fights compared to Sora(assuming he has any.)

Sora has upto about 14 subs if you count ameteur, never been finished and Nazimov has 2 sub losses.

Maybe Japanese judges can sway for their countrymen.

Tapology says Erbst is dropping to bamtamweight. I doubt this is accurate.

Took a stab at Motoya. Gonna double down if UFC bets come thru.

1680 on Raz (-280) to win 600
400.22 on Arch (+300, +350) to win 1280

= 400 to win 199.78 (-200)

Unfortunately, Bet365 voided my Raz bet, so I was stuck with my hedge on Archuletta. Cost me $600.

= -$400.22
thats some bullshit

no idea why i played kim over inoue. that was clearly an even fight on paper justifying the dog side.

yachi in retrospect probably had some of the best value on the card. usami is just not a complete mma fighter.

motoya line was swinging all day yesterday. was at like +130 at some point and then he closed the favorite.

Makoto Shinryu is a bust. Haven't seen Torres' fights in Brave, but this is likely an even matchup.

Satoshi Kamiyama may lack a fighter's heart, but he's still a young decent athlete.

Haven't taped Tae In Kim, but Ueda is a solid karate heavyweight and an easy play at +200 against a can crusher.

Is there any tape on Taisei Sakuraba? They're doing him no favours with this fight. And historically, these new blood vs legend matchups have not gone well for the new blood in Japan. (See: Ueda vs Kohsaka, Ishii vs Yoshida).

Edit: Was able to find a grappling match between Taisei Sakuraba vs Kazuma Kuramoto in Quintet. Taisei is definitely a competent grappler, but doesn't seem to be much of an athlete:

Does Rizin favour grapplers more?

I imagine it's harder to get up from a takedown cause you can't wall walk.

The only way to get up off your back is pretty much to sweep your opponent?

Uhh... no?

First of all, you can still wall walk up the corner posts.

Secondly, I'm not sure where you get the idea from that the only way to get off your back is to sweep? There's countless ways to return to your feet that don't involve sweeping your opponent.

I wanted to watch RIZIN, but there's a lot of random MMA and kickboxing fights on the prelims. The main card itself is like a separate card that has a lot of fights, too.

RIZIN is charging $14.99 for this card, which is also a bummer. I don't want to pay for an event that doesn't have any star power, and I won't be able to watch all of the fights anyway.

It objectively lacks a proper mega fight, but I have no problem paying $15 for this card when you compare it to what the UFC charges.
