RIZIN Is the Future ... The UFC's Days Are Numbered

Very admirable organisation. I hope to attend one of their events soon.

You don't have to tear down something to validate you liking something else. Talk about corrupted mindset.
Not really true. Forests need room to grow, and old growth often has to be burned down to make room for new growth.

I think the UFC is actively stunting the growth of MMA as a whole at this point. Dana is hoarding the best fighters and using illegal contracts that amount to indentured servitude. Sadly, Dana has somehow managed to keep the sport from being regulated by Congress the way boxing was.

That's not the whole thing.

USA fans on the whole don't need all that stuff. We would still watch if they put no effort into that whatsoever. We just want to watch fights at the end of the day.

Yes what pride/rizin does is awesome, but it's just not needed. I think it's a small minority (the kind that actually watch rizin) who care.

And even if they did appease those fans, do you know what the first thing you will all say when they do it?

"Cringe. Rizin does it better"
I agree that USA fans do care more about the fights than the theatrics but I don't exactly think they would be upset if the UFC implemented more theatrics into their events if it were to happen. However even if the UFC did I don't think it would be as entertaining as the Japanese do it. I mean we had that Vegas card at the sphere and it was supposed to be the coolest shit ever and it came off as pretty mid at least to me. Maybe it was better in person I don't know.

{<shrug}

Rizin will never be the future unless they change some shit. They do not give two shits about advertising or making their product available outside of the Japanese market. It also doesn't help that Sakakibara had/has yakuza connections -> will never be played on japanese broadcasting, either.

That's only true if you're building on top of ruins. Literally move next door.
The UFC isn't going anywhere soon. I'm a PRIDE diehard and I accepted that many many moons ago.
The UFC will continue it's slog and while its corporatization will affect the quality of the product until there is an actual negative repercussion from it, until then we'll have our fight night trajectory with 3 good fights a month and we'll enjoy it.

Enjoy RIZIN for what it is, a unique Eastern promotion attempting to keep the spirit of PRIDE alive.
Plus, Jiri and Mark Coleman playing drums.
I take it back OP, burn it all down.

Mark coming out on stage in Japan 25 years after winning the 2000 OWGP is fuckin great. I love Japan.

60 year old Mark Coleman playing drums in a sumo diaper was not on my bingo card.

You know, I'm more open towards the possibility of the UFC losing its top promotion status in the future than I ever was before. The thought process being the American fighter is no longer considered elite. If a very wealthy person in the Dagi region could promote a league in which they were willing to lose money for a decade I don't see why it couldnt be bigger.

With that said. The NHL has less than 30% of its roster spots now held by players born in America and it's still viewed as the premier hockey league, so the UFC is probably safe.

They dont compete. KSW, Rizin, Oktagon etc orgs like that stay in their lane and thrive in their country. They dont have any aspirations of taking over mma because they cant. They do their thing and do it well and its as simple as that.

Yep and that's exactly what they should continue to do. I'd much rather they continue to run thriving promotions in their markets rather than try and reach for the stars and go bankrupt.

Im sure they will put on funner cards.

I think a lot of the theatrics just comes down to profit. Sure you can have the stage etc but the UFC would just see that as a waste of seats you could have had paying customers in.

That's basically what ACA is. It's very high level and the average level of fighter skill wise is probably comparable to the UFC (UFC has more elite fighters) but it's probably never going to be marketable outside that region.

This post should be sent to every single upstart MMA promotion on the planet.
