Social RIP Toby Keith

R.I.P.

About the only thing I really know about Toby Keith is that time Kris Kristofferson put him in his place:

"In 2009, actor Ethan Hawke wrote a guest story for Rolling Stone about this wild verbal altercation that went down at Willie Nelson’s 70th birthday concert back in 2003.

The night of the concert, Keith walked past Willie and Kris who were standing together, and told Willie “Happy birthday.”

But he then made a snarky remark to Kris, saying:

“None of that lefty shit out there tonight, Kris.”

Needless to say, Kris didn’t take to kindly to Keith’s remarks, and responded:

“What the f*ck did you just say to me?”

Willie knew Keith had just struck a nerve, saying:

“Oh, no. Don’t get Kris all riled up.”

Keith proceeded to say:

“You heard me.”

And began to walk away.

Kris responded:

“Don’t turn your back to me, boy.”

Keith:

“I don’t want any problems, Kris… I just want you to tone it down.”

Kris, a former Army Ranger and helicopter pilot, said:

“You ever worn your country’s uniform?

Don’t ‘What?’ me, boy! You heard the question. You just don’t like the answer. ‘Have you ever served your country?’ The answer is, no, you have not.

Have you ever killed another man? Have you ever taken another man’s life and then cashed the check your country gave you for doing it? No, you have not.

So shut the f*ck up… you don’t know what the hell you’re talking about.”

Kris then told those nearby:

“You know what Waylon Jennings said about guys like him? They’re doin’ to country music what pantyhose did to finger-fuckin.'”

Considering Keith was a very outspoken democrat himself at that time, this screams of bullshit.

He was probably the biggest country star when I was growing up, besides maybe Garth Brooks,.
Only one country star of those 2 . Garth was/is a POP star and one of biggest ever but he's not country and actually killed real country as he made so much money singing pop with an accent he chsnged the Nashville model forever (Tim Mcgraw and Chesney helped) .

TK for most part kept it country . And was biggest "country" star for like 15 years . Chesney n Mcgraw don't count imo..

I hate country music, but love country women. Because of this, I have attended many country music events, concerts, etc.

Toby Keith is the only country concert I have been to where the music was good.

What the radio plays as country is more pop these days. Check out lost dog street band, tyler childers, colter wall, and ryan bingham.

Well, Kristofferson's wife confirmed it. And I'm not sure where you're getting Keith was an outspoken democrat, lol.

Damn. Don’t listen to his music but seeing his name with RIP next to it is wild. RIP. Didn’t know he was ill

They die in 3s right? Isn't that the saying?

Usually. In which case, this cycle is complete: Carl Weathers, an English actor who was the last surviving member of the OG Dad's Army cast, and now this guy.

Because he was. Its far from a secret, honestly anyone that didn't already know that is getting all their "info" from Google searches. He was a very outspoken democrat until recently.

He literally wrote a song about how we were gonna fuck up the middle east at the same time the Dixie chick's got canceled for being anti war but sure. In 2001i was young but I do remember even dems Sabre rattling.

I loved how he supported our military. He did numerous USO shows. I never saw him in concert, but I did eat at one of his restaurants in Vegas

My favorite Toby Keith song was Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue. RIP Toby

RiP

Condolences to his family.

Damn I thought he was doing better. I like his music.

Ok? Not sure what that has to do with anything. Again, he was a very outspoken democrat. This was never a secret.
