We need a shooting, and riots in Tampa. I could use some new rims for my corolla.

Also, to clarify, this isn't clearly divided between white and black. While I cannot speak to the ethnic identities of the looters, there have been a great deal of white protesters taking part in the picketing/demonstrations opposing police violence

By the police? No. By the property owners? Yes.

Yes by the property owners.

I cross the river from Edwardsville, but my girlfriend lives in Tower Grove, which I don't believe is particularly dangerous. Nonetheless, I've been urging her to purchase a firearm for home protection for some time.

Yeah I'm in Granite City and work in Brentwood (we just moved our office to Brentwood from Clayton). To be fair, most of the violent crime in STL is gang bangers shooting other gang bangers. I would be most of the looters in Ferguson actually came from North St. Louis City. I also worked at the airport for five years where we had off duty cops as security.

One of them told me a story when he came in one night of how him and another cop were called to a suspicious activity call. It was two teenage kids hanging outside the back alley of a near by warehouse building. He said the kids ran and they chased them and caught em and beat the s*** out of them. Then he said they asked them where they were from and it was from another municipality so they told the kids "get the eff out of here and go back to _________ and don't let us see your face around here anymore" and sent them on their way. The other cop he waswas a combatives instructor, former college wrestler and had kick boxed. He was regarded in the area as a total bad ass. The whole time the guy was telling the story, he was laughing like it was funny. It was very awkward for me.

That's...disturbing. I know a guy who was a Chicago police officer and had very similar stories. You try and pretend that every story you hear is just a wild exception.

Yeah. Up until working with these people I was all "Police have hard jobs, they risk our lives for our safety" and was all gung ho and thought they were all good guys. But after that, I was definitely soured on St. Louis and Metro East officers.

But more to this situation. There's bad people on all sides of the coin here. No win situation for anyone.

I don't get it, didn't the kid attack the cop and try to take his gun?

Typical thug mentality, we do what we want and should have no consequences for our actions.

except that eyewitnesses say thats not what happened at all... thats what the cop who shot the kid to death is saying

When we had the LA riots after the rodney king verdict, a lot of the people doing the rioting and looting were latinos who had no idea who rodney king was or what was happening. They just saw an opportunity to get stuff and took it. They grabbed whatever they could whether they needed it or not.

I was living in a messed up neighborhood at the time. I was the only white guy on my street so I had to stay inside for a few days since white people were randomly being pulled out of cars and beaten up and whatnot.

Anyhow, about 2 weeks after the riots concluded, there were all these yard sales all over the neighborhood where people were clearly trying to unload all the miscellaneous stuff they'd stolen then realized they couldn't use. Kind of dark comedy.

Anonymous threatening to dox and release personal information of entire Ferguson PD if Missouri politicians do not put forth a bill named after the victim that would reform police behavior. They already shut down the city gov's website last night.

Almost exactly the same thing happened in London and other English cities a few years back. Police shot a man with a long record of violent and drug related crime. They also recovered a weapon at the scene. But there were still protests, and those protests quickly escalated into an orgy of looting, arson and murder.

The vast majority of scum involved didn't know the man the police shot and couldn't care less about him. They simply wanted to burn and pillage as much as possible. Two of the sub-humans were asked by a BBC reporter why they were looting. They replied,

"Because we want to...and the police can't stop us."

A lot of Libtards tried to link the looting to poverty, until it was pointed out that the scum were stealing high-end trainers, PC's etc, rather than food.

People who are using this kids death as a reason to steal and destroy property make me sick. I'd applaud if snipers just picked those scumbags out.

I remember the London riots well...I was stuck at work in Birmingham and promised myself.....next riot I wont miss. I think vast majority of people just wanted to smash and burn things and get away with it.

Gotta love it. They are protesting no due process by giving no due process, and shutting down the whole city to boot. Makes sense. But then....Anonymous types never really do care about solving problems, imo. They are just looking for any excuse to wreck something.

This. It had nothing to do with social injustice, poverty etc.

I should add they are trying to encourage/help organize protests as well.

But I agree their tactics aren't going to result in actual legislation and they know it. Though waiting for due process in wrongful police shootings never works to my knowledge so I'm not sure why they should have any hope for that. I literally can't think of a single guilty verdict against a cop in any wrongful shooting case in my life. It's always as easy as "he went for my gun" and a slap on the wrist maybe tax payers pick up the civil suit tab and the cops been getting paid leave the whole time and now he's on his way back to his normal life.

North st louis is a giant shit hole.

I hope the cop that shot him turns out to be black. I really don't want to listen to all the black people bitch about racism. Not that that would stop them all that much

The whole struggle and attack on the police officer is what the officer himself is saying. Those reports don't include what other key eye witnesses have to say. The fact is though, the kid was unarmed, pretty sure he was fleeing, and he got shot like 5 times in the back. Why do you need to shoot an unarmed person 5 times in the back.....

lol. You might want to wait for the facts to come out.
