I haven't watched him a lot lately but did when he was first fighting for Glory and won the title. Seemed slow and a little too deliberate, in MMA seems like he'd be open to grappling attacks and wouldn't fair as well with smaller gloves.

Though he was good at keeping distance with kicks, he didn't even have heavy KO power.

But hell, Heavyweight division is kinda trash and is full of old guys so I'd take it.

Check out the link I posted for a ko

Let's put him up against Ronda and see how he does. If Ronda can make 265.

He would be a great under 30 prospect. Great background but it may take time for his grappling. Unless he's a natural, which would be pretty crazy.

He's not too exciting of a fighter to be honest. He has very little KO power for a big heavyweight

Oh yeah because the ufc hw division is full of A grade athletes who are killerz right... zzz He would knock everyone out in the ufc with 1 year of tdd.

There is video of him competing in grappling tournaments dating back to 2011. Also I read somewhere he has a Judo background. He isn't clueless and seems to have been training for 5 years with video proof of it.

He just needs a few more fights in MMA to figure out striking range with takedowns and live grappling defense with strikes added. Hell even if he puts off his MMA career until he is 30 in 3 and a bit years he would still be one of the hottest young heavyweight prospects..... lets let that sink in.

Has he fought in an organization with serious drug testing? wasnt his debut in Russia?

I hope he come to the UFC one day. The training with AKA is already a good start!

I see him completely transitioning into mma. He has no opponents left in kickboxing.

I think he needs to get that L back from Gerasimchuk, that seemed like a fluke loss and it's sort of a stain on his record.

Huh? Have you watched K1 over the years? Can't remember a lot of fights between high level fighters that ended in KO that easily. Sammy was a beast with his knees, so was Uberreem, but those guys are trained to take a hit and also it's not a 5 ounce UFC but a 12 ounce boxing glove....

When was the last time the HW boxing champ knocked someone out cold?
I watched K1, Its showtime and Glory A LOT.

Rico has power but he rarely puts much on his punches. He is the definition of a point fighter.

BTW... here is a video of Rico on AKA

This is great news. At only 26 years old he can develop into a very well rounded mixed martial artist by the age of 29-30 at a real camp like AKA.

Ok, that's something different. Unless I misunderstood your first post, you said, that he has no KO power. Not having and not using are two different worlds. I understand why nobody wants to go toe to toe in Kickboxing - just hits your head too much.

MMA, as said before, is a different ballgame. He may KO someone with a shot, he usually only hurts one. Moreover his kicks and knees will be amazing if he puts them to use.

I dont expect nothing for Rico in MMA.

I always said that Spong was a bust in MMA despite him training with Blackzillians.

These guys should stick to kickboxing. They make good money there.

I think he could show some destruction with MMA gloves. Plus he is a great striker and I think he would be exciting to watch. His fight against Benjamin Adegbuyi was crazy, he really made a statement there.

But his grappling would be a question, one definitely needs a decent grappling to do well in MMA. But imo his advantage along with the age would be the weight class.
