Mmafighting.com today had article about Rico, seems he's serious about transition to mma

26 years old, heavyweight, glory kickboxing champ,

Could this finally be a decent heavyweight Prospect for ufc?

There's a video of him on YouTube testing out aka gym

Discuss!

Could crossover well but would depend on his grappling though. Would like to see him fight overeem just to see who starts resorting to wrestling

He's not too exciting of a fighter to be honest. He has very little KO power for a big heavyweight

I approve of this thread

I enjoy his fights, so I'm interested to see how his transition to MMA goes.

I've never seen him kick box but I watched his aka video and he seems eager to train in the new skills, he was wrasslin with Cormier and sparring with the aka crew, he seems serious about it

He's only won one mma fight so far (his debut)
Don't think fight two has been announced yet

But I can't remember the last time
A decent heavyweight prospect was on the horizon

He'll probably sign with Bellator, they would allow him to have kickboxing fights.

For some reason I wanna see him fight travis browne someday

Two massive tall heavyweights

He said that he would be interested but he said if ufc give good enough offer he would go mma only

It's not even grappling he needs to learn. There's going to have to be a huge adjustment in his striking too.

Striking is an awesome base for MMA but like any one art, it takes a lot of work and skill building to bring it into MMA these days.

He's 1-0. I wouldn't even offer him the base 10/10 at this point if I were the UFC. I hope he stays in the cornfield leagues for a while. Even Bellator is too much for him at this stage.

tea is brown? Travis Browne? Browne's tall but I wouldnt consider him massive. I could see Rico man handling Travis. Verhoevens always been good at utilizing his size and strength

Definitely looked like a beast just now. My stream was dick though and i rarely watch glory so the fuck do I know though.

He has the speed and power to give many heavyweights problems, no doubt. Those with good grappling will obviously have a path to beating him, but damn, that's the minority of heavyweights. Guy could be a stud.

That was my iPhone autocorrect

I've smashed it, it won't happen again, it won't do anything again. Muhaha

I'm Gonna state the obvious here but the dude has massive legs! That will be all the kickboxing probably lol ;)

Totally agree and he seems willing to put the work in training but I'm
Wondering for future

Huh? Have you watched K1 over the years? Can't remember a lot of fights between high level fighters that ended in KO that easily. Sammy was a beast with his knees, so was Uberreem, but those guys are trained to take a hit and also it's not a 5 ounce UFC but a 12 ounce boxing glove....

When was the last time the HW boxing champ knocked someone out cold?

May be not the biggest puncher but whatever. The only time I complain about a fighter is when they ahve a brazilian karate style fighting like Filho did, like Machida - too much waiting and to little engagemnt.

Ricco is fine. I like his kickboxing style. Aggressive, big kicks too. Its gonna be awesome for the sport if he transitions well. We are in desperate need of a HW talent.

damn forgot how young he was, gonna be awesome seeing him transition to mma, 2-3 years and he could be really good
