Rewatched Jones vs DC

That fight was awesome to watch. I think the deciding moment was Jones' takedown at the end of the first. The moment he landed that "i told you i could take you down" takedown, DC lost his mind. He spent the next round angry and chasing the KO, tired himself out, and spent the next rounds getting picked apart.

I'd say if he comes into the fight with a clear head and stays cool, he has what it takes to beat anyone at 205. But i do think jones is mentally stronger and has already gotten to him. DC will go in there emotional and lose again I think.

I am aware of that. He fought JBJ in January of 2015, which was a little over five years since his first MMA bout. Five years in MMA is still pretty new.

By January of 2015, Jones had been fighting MMA for about seven years, and he'd been fighting top comp for longer than DC.

I'm just saying that DC has probably improved more than Jones in the interim, especially given Jones' issues and lack of fighting experience recently while DC was out fighting top guys like Rumble and Gus Davidson.

you do realize that he WON a HW tourmnament that featured Bigfoot Silva, josh barnett, reem, werdum, FEDOR, Arlovski, Sergei and brett rogers. He also beat Frank Mir, Roy Nelson and Dan Henderson before facing BOnes. I get what you are saying, but to use the word inexperienced is incorrect. DC has more experience fighting top level elite comp than almost anyone in the ufc look at the names he has fought, absolute legends. DC definitely improved since that fight with jones and gus really tested him at times. I still see BOnes completely dominating him in every way.

He didn't fight all those guys tho.

If DC didnt lose steam after round 3 he would have beaten Jones handily. I felt Jones one rounds 4 and 5 and thats it, round 1 being a toss up.
Please never become a professional MMA judge - it's bad enough already.

true but he was a late replacement and beat Bigfoot then barnett how insane is that and the fact that he not only beat BArnett he literally ragdolled the sjhit out of JOSH BARNETT!!! is just unreal. Dc was actually a better hw than lhw how scary is that.

Thanks for giving me hope

I was saying this a long time ago, where the fudge was my thanks then? DC looked good and I would say was getting the better of Jones striking till he decided to mix it up and grapple with Jones. Thats when his downfall started to happen.

This time around I believe he should focus on keeping it a striking match and not grappling with Jones.

Then

-fight was close. dc needed tweeks to how he closed the distance and he could win a couple of those tight rounds
-dc was chubby and cut too much weight
-jones had insane hormone levels

Now

-
DC has less body fat. easier cut
-DC is older and been through a war with gus
-Jones has had a long layoff
-Jones has been lifting and seems to be training harder
-USADA

this is an interesting fight with a lot of variables. if the rematch was immediate we could look at dc and say if he makes tweeks to how he closes the distance and sheds some body fat he has a very real chance. now hes older and jones seems to be training harder. so easily jones should be the favorite... but then theres usada, ring rust, and questions as to how hard is jones really working outside of weight training

picking jones but this has a lot of variables. i also think people seem to underestimate how close the first fight was. they both won 1 round clearly and the other 3 were very competitive which means even small tweeks can turn the fight

Jones has already won the mental battle,

DC looks like he's about to cry in every interview.

Doesn't bode well for fight time.

any idiot who says jones will steamroll cormier, well, it`s just that an idiot

this could go either way, jones is hungry after being suspended, DC beat one slaughter machine in rumble and one heavy hitter in gustaffson

guess I`am leaning more in dc`s favour

Well, if you're leaning in DC's favor you're gonna be disappointed cause Jones will most likely dominate him. He already won very convincingly the first fight, I dont see what Cormeir can do any better in a rematch. I think Jones will be even more dominant the rematch, like he said in the press conference.......the first fight he just wanted to win, the rematch he wants to hurt and finish Cormier. A Jones with those intentions is a very scary and dangerous opponent.

hard to beat a guy like DC twice....War DC !

First 2 minutes of this vid sums up the whole fight

The GOAT will kill him next time

DC lost 4-1 on rounds, one round away from getting 5-0'd, it may have been close for a couple rounds but the end result wasn't.

Jones won comfortably while engaging DC in DC's style of fighting, don't think Jones will do that this time and have an even easier time with him.

Jones TKO round 1.

Jones is better everywhere. Even wrestling.

Utter nonsense. Cormier is the supeior wrestler but wasn't in their first encounter. Jones isn't a TKO fighter and he isn't better than Cormier everywhere.

Another example of someone writing off a fight then being shocked at the result and calling the defeated fighter overrated.

yeah, we all know what a ko artist Jones is........

He said TKO buddy, JOnes has several first round TKO's on his record. If he gets Cormier on his back and lets his GNP go, he has a great shot to finish Cormier early.

Up to the third it was anyone's fight. Both the 3rd and 5th could have been Cormier's if he pushed for it enough. Truth be told, he gassed and broke against Jones in the first match.

Bones wins by late sub or UD.

And the comparison of him fighting Rumble in no way applies to Jones either. Rumble in a known gasser (much as I wish he wasn't) and as soon as DC felt his power went straight for a takedown. He had a hell of a time trying to impose his will on Jones and this time it will be even tougher. His best shot it staying on top of Jones like he did last fight and improving his own cardio and landing a few big shots that hurt Jones and sap his strength. If he can do that he has a great shot but I don't see it happening

But he gassed because of what Jones did to him (body kicks and pressure).

Both the 3rd and 5th could have been his (DC's) if he pushed enough? Based on what? Maybe he pushes too much, leaves an opening and the fresher fighter (Jones) finishes him? Look at Weidman X Rockhold, The Chris was pushing hard in the 3rd round and what happened to him? The fresher fighter (Rockhold) capitalized on Weidman's lazy strike.
