Rewatched GSP vs. Hendricks.

Not really controversial. If anything it came down to the first round, which i scored it for GSP.

Well we certainly don't give James Dean the GOAT award if we're knocking Orson Welles for being old and fat in a bad wine commercial.

But mainly this illustrates the idiocy of GOAT arguments in the first place. While also showing that by the better metric--fighters who fight and entertain--GSP is barely relevant compared to Fedor and Anderson.

Entertain? Go Watch WWE. This is a sport, not an action movie.

Hendricks won. I said it back in 2013 and I stick by it. It's a shame that fight went to the judges.

Hendricks beat that ass though. He did so much more damage. Thats whats wrong with the scoring system.

If both dudes punched each other three times a piece. One dude has a busted up face and bruises. One dude doesnt have a mark. Who won?
??? If cuts and bruises decided fights there would be lots of terrible decisions

Hendricks won the fight and GSP won the contest.

Hendricks won 2 rounds convincingly and GSP narrowly scraped by 3 rounds.

Quality post and true

GSP won the fight under the 10 point must rules that were in place

Hendricks would have won under Pride rules

GSP would have won if they kept on fighting since burger boy was dead tired
That's the thing about fighting. There's always going to be circumstances. If you throw twoodley and brock in the cage brock probably wins. If they were is some flat plane in the middle of space with no walls in a fight to the death for our alien overlords tyron has a chance by kiting brock around and attacking once brock is fatigued. If the fight happened during some anarchy period where's there's no weapons tyron would probably just run away cause it's the smartest thing to do then devise a trap to kill brock or maybe brock devises the plan to kill woodley. Who knows? Being a bigger stronger fighter doesn't make you the alpha, it doesn't give you the greatest chance for survival, it doesn't mean you are going to pull mad bitches, it really doesnt mean anything other then you are good at a sport. That's what fighting will always be is a sport. For so many people they just can't comprehend that.

OK, so I agree with a lot of this. The scoring system is flawed when two rounds, both scored 10-9, can be so different in terms of damage/output/control.

Hendricks definitely won the two rounds he won in pretty clear fashion. At the same time, according to the rules at the time a draw or a win for either GSP or Hendricks is OK in my book. I think the score given in the OP is correct based on the rules.

So this went to an interesting place. You get a like even if some of your post had me scratching my head.

I feel bad for GSP in this fight.

He had to retire after the beating he got put on

Damn 5 years later and people are still butt hurt about GSP vs Hendrix fight.
Thats kinda impressive.

Lol I think that's kind of the point though. My response was kind of bizarre and far fetched but it's showing you in a fun way how to look outside of the box about fgihting. Everyone is told that there's a champion and the greatest in the world yet that's kind of a facade. When people say things like Hendricks beat gsp the truth is he didnt. You can say well if the rules were like this he would have won or if this happened he would have won but whatever the excuse is the truth remains the same and gsp won. If you want to dabble into the what ifs to make it sound like Hendricks should have won then we can also dabble into the what ifs to support gsps win even more as well. It's a sport with a scoring system and it may or may not have a flawed scoring system but it's what we have and it's what make decisions on when it comes to who lost or won. Something the bigg rigg bandwagoners should come to terms with

That's a hard one though. GSP looked worse after the Condit and Diaz fights than Condit and Diaz did too but he clearly won. Some guys just mark up easy.

Look at Fedor, a brisk wind makes his face bruise up, lol. Than look at Anderson, 4 and a half rounds of Chael punching him in the face and he barely had a scratch on him.

Some people are just blessed when it comes to wearing damage.

Gotcha. That was a fun way to get a fresh perspective.

Never failed a drug test. Never ran from the sport/USADA like your hero.
Never dropped piss cups when tested like your hero or call the police on drug testers like your hero.

Never popped multiple times to fight guys coming up from lower weightclasses like your other hero.

Bullshit. Everyone knew GSP had been thinking of retirement for 2 or 3 fights.
He talked about it before the Condit fight but the plethora of bitter Silva and Aldo fanboys here don't care about facts. Only their deluded perception of reality.

Please refer to the record books for the official result, the only one that matters. GSP resumed his career by winning the MW crown after several years off. Hendrix was a shot fighter after that bout. Also, Hendrix is a fat fcuk with loose skin and thick layer of fat underneath. That is why he can absorb punishment w/o showing a lot of physical signs of said punishment.
