Respect to Belal.

There was a moment in that last round where he ate a big shot and you could see his body beginning to shut down; his arms dropped to his sides, he began backing up towards the fence, and his breathing was becoming erratic. He took a deep breath, brought his hands back up, and started marching forward. It was one of the bigger displays of will & grit I've seen in pro MMA.
That's what separates average fighter toughness to championship level toughness.

Didn’t see the post fight stuff. Heard he was a sore loser. If that’s the case, he can get fucked. Ugly freak.

Nice catch sir. Great AV as well.

Gotta rewatch/reread Onizuka.

Hard worker, was never gifted anything, had to grind and scratch to get a titleshot.

Went out there, put on a great fight, actually looked a lot better on the feet than people give him credit for.

Oldest WW to win a world title.

Walked through Leon in his home country.

And a good dude as well. Fun, never takes himself too serious.

People want to make fun of him and disregard what he's done, but he can be proud of his work in the UFC.

All the respect in the world to Belal. You'll disagree with me but I want to see him fight for the title one more time. Might have to get a big win first but he can pull it off.

He deserves respect. He will regret his game plan and execution for this one though. While his striking looked good, he did not play to his strengths.

Unfortunately for Belal, the need to promote himself in the way that he did (which I supported...he had to play a bit of an arrogant heel to get attention), means that he is going to hear a lot of shit from fans and fellow fighters now (I see DDP has already chimed in).

Zero successful defenses + the uncontroversial loss to JDM = no way Belal gets another title shot without winning at least a fight or two.

Belal believed in his own hype, first 3 rds he really wanted to make a point eg i can beat him in a mostly standup fight. Only 1 td attempt for each of the first 3 rds. I’ve defended Belal in the past, but he really screwed himself over this fight
Brother, I am one of the biggest Belal fans out here.

Not hard, there are like 7 on us in this Forum lol.

But even I will tell you, he fought the wrong fight. Not sure what him and his team expected but he didn't do himself and his skills favours.

Its unfortunate but its a decision he has to live with.

I'm interested to hear how he explains this performance and this gameplan.

He didn't do anything egregious at all. He just looked disappointed. Some folks on here wouldn't be happy unless he dropped to his knees and bowed to JDM.
Heard he refused to shake his hand and ignored him when JDM approached him.

He didn't do anything. Looked like any guy going through a tough five-round war and coming up short, losing his world title.

I can't disagree. I was rooting for Belal, always have. He fought the wrong fight and I'm not sure why. I maintain this was a winnable fight for him stylistically but who knows what led to this decision in strategy.

If Belal can get a big W and JDM remains champ, the fact that they had one of the best titlefights of the year so far will help his case.

Belal will be the No. 1 ranked WW now. He'll fight Shavkat or Buckley/Usman winner next I'm sure. Either victory is enough but we'll see.

Only problem with Belal is that he doesn’t walk out with an American flag despite being born and raised in America. But whatever. He is still top 5 but JDM , Shavkat, Dana, maybe Garry will make it difficult to get the belt back. I think it’s Usman vs Belal next no matter what the outcome of Usman vs Buckley is.

No explanation necessary. This has been happening to people as long as people have existed. He thought his shit didn't stink and it was obvious from the moment he walked out. Maybe he'll learn from this but being the 2020s double down era I suspect he won't.

I didn't like the movie Rudy and I don't give a shit about hard work and effort and bullshit like that. I want to see the best, most exciting fighters try to finish their opponents, period. Muhammad was the worst ww champ in years. Never defended and boring AF to watch. See ya later belal. Make some more jokes on Twitter. You're good at that.

100% good dude. Never understood the hate for the person. Fare enough if you don't like his fighting style but every interview or fan interaction I saw he came across really well. I'll remember his name 👊

Canelo Hands…more like Canelo’s sister’s hands…

JDM lit him up like a Christmas tree.

I guess Jack must have fell down some stairs after the fight, because his face looks like hamburger meat.
