Remembering American Gladiators

I remember that pretty clearly. It happened in the football mini game, where they had to get through Gladiators and score. The dude ran over everyone. I think his name was Carl Williams. There was some other contestant, had long hair, named Billy something, he was a stuntman, almost got into a fistfight with one of the gladiators. !980's American Gladiators was the shit!

Yeah I couldn’t find the video, but I remember him going in for the tackle and the dude lowered his head and delivered the blow, Nitro crumpled to the ground.

I know someone who was a contestant on the show and he had a good experience. He told me a story about the guy he was competing against, the guy was talking a lot of shit and pissing the gladiators off so two of them got together to mess him up. One of them somehow pinned the guys arms up and the other came through and cracked him in the ribs with his shoulder and broke a few of them. My friend won that episode probably because he was such a nice guy the gladiators liked him more.

It was really just three of them. Laser, Nitro or Turbo? They were classic roided out assholes who were always in a snit. The rest were good sports. Gemini was a beast, he played in the NFL but he was a nice guy and a good sport.

There was one huge Dutch weightlifter that scared all of the Gladiators. It was pretty funny. He absolutely boliterated several of the Gladiators in some of the events.


Quirky fact: Laser was married to 80s porn legend Candie Evans.

Quirky fact #2: Hawk played in the NFL. He was an Ivy league grad with an MBA and a one time economics PhD student.

Damn you have good memory. Williams also steamed rolled Nitro in Powerball and almost knocked him out (same video you linked above).

i always felt worse for the women's division though. those female gladiators were fuckin beasts and the poor women that went up against them sometimes got straight up mangled.

Dude. I JUST introduced my 10 year old daughter to American gladiators last night. She does rock climbing and loves ninja warrior so I thought I should show her where ninja warrior originated from. We actually signed her up for ninja warrior jr. Waiting to Hopefully get that call
