I loved his short rejuvenation submission win over cub Swanson. It helped him get the Faber fight and then he got a rematch too, decent paydays

I’ll share my Jens Pulver story. I’m sure I have before here.
I can’t remember what wec it was, maybe 36? It was in Florida. Faber fought brown for the first time, Jens fought Leonard Garcia, razor rob fought cowboy, Aldo fought Jonathan brookins, rahni yahya fought yoshiro meada, I’m sure there were others.
It was a hella stacked wec card with Faber defending and Jens looking to get back after his loss. Also I remember aldo running into the crowd, cowboy knocking rob down like 3 times in the first round, and mike brown making it look easy in front of his home town.
What I remember most was after the fights were all said and done. My brothers and I flew down to Florida from Connecticut for the card. We were all Uriah fans, but I was especially a Jens fan. After the fights we went to play a poker tournament. I wasn’t feeling it, so I just hung around while they played.
After about a half hour I went outside to have a smoke and was on my phone. I look over and there’s Jens Pulver. With one of his coaches and a couple fans grabbing autographs.
I knew he was busy, had just gotten the shit kicked out of him and was probably tired, so I did t go up to him. But we made eye contact and I looked away. But what he did, was call for me and kinda said “hey man, come over and say hi, it’s cool.”
So o went over and did the typical fanboy thing and say how I was a big fan and was so optimistic that he came out to wu tang clan and was just appreciative to see him fight.
He waved it all off saying it was just his job and he had an off night. What really threw me off was that he asked about me and what I did for a living and about my family. Not to make a point about his own life, but he genuinely seemed interested.
My brothers purposely lost in the poker tournament to come meet him and say hi. After about 45 minutes of just talking to him, we told him we were going to get one last drink because we had a plane to catch. He walked with us, still bullshitting with us, and then introduced us to his pregnant wife.
As we were all walking inside, leanord garcia was walking out at the exact same time with his wife. They shook hands, hugged, introduced each others wives to each other, and then Jens introduced me and my family to them.
It was strange, yet comfortable. These people I see on tv, these people that in my own mind transcend what we think we can do, are so down to earth and so simply human. They may never remember those interactions, but at the time, Jens made every real. And appreciated every second.

Met Jens in Florida after he got his head knocked in.
Invited me and my brothers to hang out with him.
Met his wife.
Had no issues talking about anything but seemed more interested in my and my brothers lives.
Down to earth and humble.
