Remember how stupid the Merab-Simon stoppage was?

TS , look here and let us also know what we dont know

Who the hell wouuld think he wasn't out by that gif loll. His arms are splayed, no fighting the hands to relieve the pressure and he is twitching.
There is two seconds where it looks like he wakes up. That's a good stoppage at anytime from this gif, but I didn't see it live.

The thing is, he let his arms do that while clearly being conscious earlier in the choke as well.

merab slams his head into the canvas at 58 seconds on the clock. his arms look limp to me moments after, and he gets reversed and guillotined.
shortly after, ref does a limb check and he responds with consciousness
merab decides to tour de france
at 24 seconds on the clock, both his hands are at the mat not defending.
He then again shows consciousness shortly there after.
again at 14 seconds, his arms at the canvas doing nothing, but seems to have conscious facial expressions.

How the fuck do you stop the fight after it ended? Thats BS

plenty of fights get stopped between rounds. do you not watch mma?
"The end of a round is signified by the sound of the bell"

Technical Knockout
i. Referee Stoppage: the referee stops the contest because the combatant
IS NOT INTELLIGENTLY DEFENDING HIMSELF/HERSELF;
1. Strikes
2. Laceration
3. Corner Stoppage
4. Did Not Answer the Bell

These events were very atypical and strange, and i think its because there was a combination of impared consciousness due to head trauma, as well as impared consciousness due to a choke. he neither showed some of the classical signs of losing consciousness, nor did he respond reasonably to defend a choke with 0% hand fighting at times, and 100% bike riding.

Conscious or not, anyone who things he should have continued fighting is fucking stupid.

You said yourself, "between rounds" and this wasn't between rounds.

They final round ended therefore the fight is over.

It's a grey area. If they taped some kind of monitor to fighters that tracked whether they're conscious or not, and the fight ended if they lose consciousness for 1 second, then shouldnt a fight end any time someone gets flash KOed even if they recover? The Maness fight last night, he was out for a second and saved by the bell at the end of the first round, yet recovered and ended up winning next round, but going by this logic he should be the loser still because he couldn't defend himself when the bell rang in round 1.

You can't apply this rule in one scenario and not others. Many fights in MMA history would've been stopped early if it ended any time someone was flash KOed, or any time someone passed out for a second in a submission. An example of this where it was actually enforced and you all hated it: Robbie Lawler vs. Ben Askren, Robbie went out for a second then recovered but they called it a submission loss. That's the same as Merab here but everyone was mad about that one, but you dont care about this one? Going by flash KOs, Gaethje lost to Michael Johnson since he was flash KOed by an uppercut during the fight but recovered before he hit the ground, doesn't matter right cause he still lost consciousness?

Watch the minute before that. He was repeatedly kicking his legs to show he was OK.
He wasn't fighting the hands but fighters often don't fight the hands when defending a guillotine.
Why would his leg be twitching like that if he were unconscious?

pro wrestling fans really in this thread arguing whether or not merab was out. dude was completely unconscious <Lmaoo>

you’re either trolling or you’ve been watching mma for 6 months. that’s exactly what a person who just got choked out looks like.
He was moving his legs almost from the start of submission. He was doing it to show the ref he was still there and he did that till the end. Chocked out person isn't capable of doing that.

Nah, he was clearly out and if you can’t answer the bell you lose. He definitely had the far off stare and didn’t immediately respond when the submission was released. Imagine a fighter winning a decision when they were KO’d at the bell because the ref didn’t get there to stop it before the horn. It was a weird ending, but the correct call.
I disagree. I Yair had landed the KO elbow on KZ after the bell instead of 1 second before the bell should he still win?
That ref never saw a need to stop the fight until the bell sounded. Unless he says he was stopping the fight and didn't do so because of the bell he is wrong. Answering the bell is for starting the action. The final bell leaves nothing to answer but the decision. The guy wasn't out. Final bell means he has no need to defend himself. He might have been catching his breath as he was exhausted fighting off a choke for 50 seconds. The same choke the ref saw no need to stop during the fight.

He was out but yes it is bs to call a stoppage after the final bell on a sub.

lmao no he wasn’t. his legs were reflexively trying to kick him awake, it’s a common nervous system response to loss of consciousness.

not to mention, he has two arms that are more than capable of doing that and they were both at his side, again, because he was unconscious. he wasn’t hand fighting to relieve the pressure on his neck, choke defense 101, because- wanna guess? that’s exactly right, because he was unconscious.

You are completely wrong. Did you watch the full video posted by TS? He was clearly more comfortable with signalling being awake with his legs than his hands.
If you think that his leg movement was "common nervous system response to loss of consciousness" then your avatar really suits your way of thinking.

Regarding fighting the hands, even Sticko said:

He was just doing what felt most comfortable for him at the moment. It was close but he survived the choke and wasn't unconscious.
