Keep in mind Nico Harrison has always been a fuckup. He was Nike's Vice President of North American basketball operations and part of the team that pitched a failed deal to Steph Curry in 2013.

Mispronounced his name and also showed a repurposed PowerPoint slide that displayed Kevin Durant's name. Predictably leading Steph to pick Under Armour.

Either Nico is the biggest moron of all time or the Adelson's are cheap AF and didn't want to give the Supermax.

But the Supermax theory doesn't make sense for a big reason. Why didn't they negotiate with other teams? They could have landed a star player and multiple 1st round picks. Or at least landed more picks from the Lakers.

Maybe it's some shady quid pro quo with Adam Silver wanting to give the NBA's largest market a future. The Lakers would have been scrubs after Lebron retires. Now they have a franchise caliber superstar that some teams don't get for decades.

Lakers constantly lucking into franchise altering elite players is bullshit. The Pau Gasol deal also was under the table and not shopped around for some odd reason. Then the ridiculous Chris Paul trade - maybe the Lakers pay people under the table?

How the hell do the Lakers constantly have all time great superstars just fall into their lap?

Kareem Abdul Jabbar for scrubs.
Shaq just signs with them.
Vlade Divac gets traded for Kobe fucking Bryant
Fleeced Pau Gasol from the Grizzlies for peanuts
Fleeced the Hornets for Chris Paul (but Stern vetoes)
Now Luka
Because living in L.A. and being a star is the apex.

That’s only because the Mavs have a deep / solid team, and L.A.’s roster is all over the shop.. as well as the fact that LeBron’s is 40.
The Lakers roster isn't bad at all, they LeBron just cant be going 100% all the time and AD is inconsistent jumper as well as injuries (hes been better lately) really fucked with any consistency on the court.

Bron was just eating dinner with his family when he was completely blindsided by this news. I hope he’s taking it ok. Must be in a state of shock.

Dallas didn't want to pay him + they were tired of his injury ridden fat outta shape ass lol whatevs still a great player

It's certainly bizarre. Even if they did lose their marbles and wanted to get rid of a 25 year old phenom because he fucked some dude's wife or something, why not let the league in on it and get a bidding war started? Not only did they not do that, they let the Lakers fleece them. There has to be more to this. It's so stupid, it seems shady.

Worst trade I can remember since the Raptors traded Vince Carter for some bodies and a disgruntled Alonzo Mourning that never even suited up for the Raps. But hey, at least the Raps were forced into dealing Vince, and it wasn't some out of blue retarded move that made zero sense.

The funniest part here is all the fuck ups by Pelinka have been erased.

As a Laker fan, im not mad. But damn I had high hopes for this years team because this squad was playing defense like that 2020 title team again. Put Max into the starting lineup, AD patrolling the paint, trading away DLo for dorrian finsey smith who is solid 3-D forward. Just got Vando back who is great defender. The wins have been racking up. I felt good. Now we get rid of our 2 best defenders for Luka who doesnt even try on defense. We got a starting wing trio of reaves, luka and 40 year old lebron, none of whom should be guarding the other teams best players. We are going to be an absolute joke on defense going forward. Now we need a center before the trade deadline more than ever.

With all that said, we just made sure we will be relevant for the next decade.

It's unfortunate to say this is a possibility due to the fact they didn't shop Luka around. That's the part no one can explain.

There's no reason to hand a top 5 generational talent ahead of his prime to a team that only has to give up a top 10 player who is going to steadily decline out of his prime, a role player and a 1st rd pick 4 yrs from now?

This screams that Casino ownership group making moves to get the Mavs to Vegas. Completely nonsensical trade. Could have got historic draft capital and a prospect or 2. But to trade for an always hurt soon to be a 32 year old big man and 1 draft pick is just ridiculous. Luka has so much value being only 25 and star power alone.
