Giannis is a stud, but his numbers give him nothing over Jokic, and team record isn't there either. FTA has the team record stuff which the league is latching on like flies on shit.
Jokic last year was 26.4 -12.4 - 9.0 on 58% - 36% - 82%.
This year he is 28.9 - 12.9 - 10.6 on 58% - 44%- 82%.
FTA last year was 30.1 - 5.5 - 6.2 on 54% - 35% - 87%
This year he is 32.8 - 5.1 - 6.2 on 53% - 38% - 90%.
Giannis last year was 31.2 - 11.8 - 6.7 on 61% - 27% - 66%.
This year he is 32.7 - 12.9 - 6.3 on 61% - 19% - 60%.
The only thing that's changed year over year to give a narrative that FTA is MVP is team record with OKC crushing it - which is somewhat legit.
Giannis is smarter now by chucking up less 3s (less than 1 per game), and is a monster on defense, but doesn't have a narrative going for him this year. But agree the league has kinda "forgotten" about him in a lot of commentary.
