Reebok payouts for UFC 195!! :|

Very gracious of Reebok to pay any money.

Guess how much the postal service pays mail carriers just to wear a uniform?

Education is easy, if you compare it to how much time these guys put into their work. High risk, and definitely making a larger ripple in the pond than another leech lawyer or accountant. That, and you're a dick.

Cut the nonsense. When someone says "not bad for a job that doesn't require an education", they mean that their pay is not bad considering the fact that they didn't have to take out upwards of 100k in loans to land their respective positions (law students - on average - take out around that much in loans, alone).

Too much, Dana could have purchased some nice snow with that money.

Yes, because learning to Muay thai, BJJ, etc. to you doesn't fit your traditional view of education. Good job ya goof.

How much debt do those things mandate, directly? Grow up.

People worry about other people money way to much ... I think it was condit but could've Been lawler said they would fight for free in one of the commercials for the ppv

Yeah, it's not like you need money to live, right? Fighters shouldn't have to struggle to get by when fighting for the biggest promotion in MMA. It's embarrassing. Condit may be able to fight for free, but the guys lower on the card certainly can't.

It's pretty rough.

That doesn't include all the free swag they get.

Lol, a few pairs of shoes and pants that Reebok give fighters to wear during fight week is not going to cancel out the financial loss of having your own sponsors.

Sponsorship used to be a big part of their total income. Now it's not.

These professional athletes are forced to dawn Reeboks logo on every piece of clothing come fight week for what? For $2500? For $5000? They've thrown away all their prior relationships they had with other sponsors and they've thrown away all existing identity established through their attire.

Fuck people like you.

Local sponsors like bars, restaurants, etc. were not giving out 10,000 apiece to sponsor fighters. Those businesses would have been losing money quick. I personally know a handful of lower level pro MMA fighters who never received more than a combined $500 from SPONSORS to fight in regional shows. I do not think a guy in his first UFC fight should receive 10k from Reebok if there is a pretty good chance he might only have one UFC fight, then be back lower level org. They just aren't generating revenue for the UFC at that point.

Now,if you're saying THERE SHOULDNT BE A REEBOK DEAL...then I see. But from the UFC standpoint, there is no question that it made sense for the UFC to do. Major apparel brand sponsorship only made sense, FROM THE UFC standpoint.

Personally, I do not agree with it. I liked the fighters being able to get their own sponsors. But I don't get to make those decisions. I'm just a fan. If the fighters don't like the deal, sign with Bellator or Rizin or One FC. That's their choice. Anyone who has had to make a job choice in their life understands that your employer controls a lot.

Now, go fuck yourself.

What the fuck are fighters waiting for ? Why isn't there a union ?

There is nothing that says time spent learning a craft HAS to equate to more money. The market drives salaries. If you spend 10 years playing WOW or COD, you are not "owed" a six figure salary based upon your time spent on those endeavors.

What is Condits base? 150k to show, 150k to win? FOTN bonus 50k +30k Reebok + outside sponsorship = A damn good night! I don't get what the obsession with fighter pay is...NBK is most likely a millionaire (on the low end) and you people who make 30k salaries are bitching lol.

cut that in half due to American Taxes. That's the highest tax bracket... Then factor in everything else a fighter has to pay for.

And he is still making a great wage, even fighting just once a year. Fighting but twice would see his gross Reebok payout surpass the median annual income of an American household, alone.

the Reebok deal money isn't a salary per se
the fighters used to be able to let 'the market' determine their sponsorship worth (with some limiting conditions), now the UFC has effectively blocked them from doing so

But it's not about the average American's salary.
He's not making great money for a major sports star in the sports biggest company IMO. If he's making 150/150, wins 3 fights in a year, he's making 450k base salary after taxes. Add another 45k after taxes for Reebok.. That's under 500k. Not saying that's chump change, but for a company that's making 500,000,000 profit or more yearly, that's redonk.

That is absurd. If Condit is pulling in near 500k a year, he is doing more than well for a pro-athlete and pro-fighter, dwarfing the salaries of most of his peers. Condit is not a champion, nor has he ever been one in the UFC. He is a top 3 guy in his weight-class and his salary more than reflects that.

The answer is zero. Zero dollars. For the record.

Wearing a uniform is required of the job. You don't get extra money to wear your uniform, not as a postal worker, not as a UPS worker, not as a McDonald's burger flipper. It is simply one facet of the job. The same with being a UFC fighter. They have uniforms now. It's part of the job. You get paid to fight. It's pretty gracious they pay them for something that pretty much no other job pays for, which is to rep the company with a uniform.
