Recent Gilbert Melendez Comments

Not to mention that Gilbert lost a razor-thin decision to Bendo and Dana totally passed on an immediate rematch. He did the same with Jones-Gustaffson as well, which strikes me odd as to why you wouldn't strike while the iron is hot.

Yea that fight wasn't even close. Melendez whooped Diego real good.

Does anyone besides me find Dana's methods of fight/fighter promotion a little irritating? Melendez was right. All we heard from the bald father was Diego this Diego that. Save for a few brief, and I mean brief moments in the fight, Diego was getting his fucking ass whooped. All we heard was how he was a warrior blah blah blah. It was bullshit. I think I noticed shit like this after JDS KTFO outta Cain and Dana was talking shit about JR's cardio right after the fight. I was like WTF?!?!?!? How are you gonna diss a guy your supposed to promote.

lol dana was right tho, JDS' cardio couldnt handle Cains. Last laugh on you jabroni.

Diego showed the heart of a warrior but for the most he was clearly outclassed by Melendez. Melendez needs to get a #1 contender fight against somebody in the top 5. He should rematch Bendo. Who is Bendo fighting btw? I haven't heard any news on him since he lost.

It's pretty cryptic, considering that Melendez was absolutely lighting Diego up for most of that fight and DW knows it as much as anybody. Seems like Dana only cares about the marketing angle, and just wants to make as much $$$ as possible of Diego's brain cells.

i honestly expected diego to come up dirty on the post fight DT. Gil needs the winner of pettis vs thompson.

A good fucking point.

I agree with Melendez here.

Diego obviously deserves respect and recognition for his chin and will but he wasn't the only one who made that fight exciting. Melendez could have EASILY avoided all Diego's big exchanges and just moved in and out and fed him 1-2's all night like he did Masvidal. It wouldn't have been anywhere as crazy as a fight but he probably wouldn't have been touched.

I'd much rather see Melendez move up the ladder to get another title shot than watch him beat up Diego again.

I'd love a rematch to take place and Gil to just lay on Diego for 3/5 rounds. As has been said, it wasn't really a competitive fight bar a few moments, and even then that was only because Gil let that happen. He could have won a lot more easily than it turned out. I still had it 30-27 anyway.

They're putting together Penn vs Edgar III at a weightclass Penn has never been to, AND having them coach TUF 18. The UFC apparently loves doing pointless rematches.

I'm actually interesting in their third fight as I had Penn winning their first fight easily, and seeing Penn at 145.

I agree with Melendez on the part of him not being appreciated. In his debut, he won the the fight against Benson Henderson in a lot of people's eyes and still he wasn't even given a rematch or a post fight interview.

Gil indeed deserved a lot of credit in that fight. He took a risk to put on a show

How anyone scored that fight for Diego baffles me. Gil won it clearly. The plucky underdog got busted open, swung for the fences and protested afterwards. Story of sanchezs career

You on drugs? Story of Diego's career? Diego was 6-0 in the UFC before his first loss to Kos (Which he was very sick and should not have fought). Then he lost an extremely close decision to Fitch wherein he had Fitch in 2 close submissions.

He also dominated Diaz and Karo (who was top 3 at WW at the time).

And yet people like you say stupid things like, "story of sanchezs career".
