One of my favorite movies. Its influence is undeniable. Ahead of its time.

It was average.
It was inferior compared to the first film.
About as equivalent as Ghostbusters II

I really didn't like how the Terminator was being tamed like a dog and being taught all these hip & trendy words.
Plus, the grittiness of the first film was completely removed in the 2nd film.
How old was John Connor? 10?
The film depicted Los Angeles as this bright and happy to be merry place in one decade? Bullshit!
Dude the second film had some grit... Sarah Conor going after this Dyson dude and shoots his leg to shit in front of his family, the creepy shit going on in that mental asylum, the last scene with the step parents and finally all the brutal action between the two robots.

T1 was dark, but let's not act like T2 is this disney movie lol

The first one was the best.
The sequels and reboots were nothing but cash grabs.
They all had the same plot.

Terminator Salvation was the only exception of having a unique plot compared to the rest of the films.
But that movie had two main characters that look identical so it's a no I had no idea what was happening.

Synopsis: Disguised as a human, a cyborg assassin known as a Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) travels from 2029 to 1984 to kill Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton). Sent to protect Sarah is Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn), who divulges the coming of Skynet, an artificial intelligence system that will spark a nuclear holocaust. Sarah is targeted because Skynet knows that her unborn son will lead the fight against them. With the virtually unstoppable Terminator in hot pursuit, she and Kyle attempt to escape.

My opinion: The Greatest 80s Film (imo) is The Terminator. It mixes multiple genres together to comprise a perfect film. The only flaw of the film is this scene:

However I will not hold it against the film or Cameron because of the time period and they didn't have the technology to make it more realistic.

It's a perfect film from start to finish.

My rating - 10/10

Actually , I like that scene that you referred to. I think it adds to the creepiness of the terminator.
It made me laugh when the terminator takes a second to check his hair at the end of that scene

um, yea, the same plot is kinda essential, you know, the future is trying to stop John Connor from reaching said future

and T2 is just as good as T1

Terminator 2 is on my top 10.

The older I get the more I prefer T1 to T2.

Same here. But I adore T2. I think the main reason for any slippage is because I've seen it SOOO many times, I oversaturated myself to it.

But T1 definitely wins in the raw grittiness. Even better that it's 80s raw grittiness.

Yeah the much smaller budget helps a movie like that. It's almost like T2 is "too clean" looking.

Ive always preferred T1 to T2. Only cuz of the lighting.

I'd say the intension in T1 is really that LA feels like its already halfway to judgement day were as T2 looks to try and have a more grounded setting.

Quality wise I think T1 holds together better personally, T2 is exellent but I think moreso a series of great scenes.

I wouldn't say it's a 10, I'm not sure any movies that I'm a big fan of that are 10s ...maybe Manchester By The Sea but Terminator on its worst day is at least an 8, personally I give it a 9, great film.
