Only giving it a 9 due to dated things. Cant be helped.

Oh wait they do explain the facial recognition thing but still

Terminator 1 had the right amount of Terminators for me.

A perfect 10 from me. Yeah, some of the effects don't age well, but FFS, even modern films with cutting edge CGI and budgets that dwarf what Cameron had to work with can still fuck things up occasionally.

For me, Terminator is one of the Arnold Holy Trinity, along with Conan and Predator:cool:

I gave it a 9/10 which is the highest I am willing to score anything at this point in time in my life. When I am on my deathbed I will most likely upgrade that movie to a 10.

Terminator 2 is an 8.5/10

The first one was the best.
The sequels and reboots were nothing but cash grabs.
They all had the same plot.

Terminator Salvation was the only exception of having a unique plot compared to the rest of the films.

The problems with the sequels was actually after they stopped having the same plots, tried to be more complex and generally failed terribly.

You guys are talking SFX stuff but honestly what always bothered me was how the terminator could mimic voices and had all this targeting future stuff..

But didn't have a facial recognition system to just go and kill her.

That troubled you in 1984?

I went with 9 but I might change to 9.5. I absolutely love Michael Biehn as Kyle Reese in this movie. His line delivery is so good.

The I'll be back line was perfect in this film. Kind of lame how it is used in the rest of the series.

Synopsis: Disguised as a human, a cyborg assassin known as a Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) travels from 2029 to 1984 to kill Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton). Sent to protect Sarah is Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn), who divulges the coming of Skynet, an artificial intelligence system that will spark a nuclear holocaust. Sarah is targeted because Skynet knows that her unborn son will lead the fight against them. With the virtually unstoppable Terminator in hot pursuit, she and Kyle attempt to escape.

My opinion: The Greatest 80s Film (imo) is The Terminator. It mixes multiple genres together to comprise a perfect film. The only flaw of the film is this scene:

However I will not hold it against the film or Cameron because of the time period and they didn't have the technology to make it more realistic.

It's a perfect film from start to finish.

My rating - 10/10

I actually saw Terminator 2: Judgment Day before I saw The Terminator. I might still have the original movie saved on my HD but haven't watched in a while. I rated it 8/10. I think the sequel is better. Haven't really paid much attention to the subsequent releases after that.

With your bitch slap rappin'
And your cocaine tongue
You get nuthin' done

You didn't like T2 Judgement Day?

It was average.
It was inferior compared to the first film.
About as equivalent as Ghostbusters II

I really didn't like how the Terminator was being tamed like a dog and being taught all these hip & trendy words.
Plus, the grittiness of the first film was completely removed in the 2nd film.
How old was John Connor? 10?
The film depicted Los Angeles as this bright and happy to be merry place in one decade? Bullshit!
