I'm not including standard versions of things like straight armbars, triangles, anaconda/brabos, guillotines, RNCs, arm triangles or heel hooks. I will include some of the preceding subs if they are applied with an interesting setup like a flying armbar...

I don't really have any criteria for submissions to qualify as rare, except for them not appearing on the list above. Not looking at any numbers/stats to help decide what's what...

these can be subs that might have not actually happened yet in mma competition, but are theoretically possible as outcomes in an mma fight, eg no collar chokes or w/e. Also includes some subs that might not still be legal in modern competition.

I'm not a bjj practitioner btw, as some of you might be able to tell. I just find submissions in general to be fascinating. Please correct me where I inevitably get things wrong

Tim was sick before the fight even started, so it probably didn't help that Assuerio hit him, but he would probably have been stuck on the toilet for 30 if he hadn't been fighting.

I don't think it's been confirmed what happened with Yoel's purple, slightly darker purple shorts.

The wandering pooper from the regional show had a pretty obvious shit stain when his opponent applied a guillotine, so it had probably already happened before that.

I dont think Coleman would have said that. Only an idiot would think that about a Kneebar.

The thing is Randleman had submitted animal urine for his drug test in this fight (which was later found out of course),and I guess was trying to roid rage his way through this sub. Most people would realize its over and tap.

Isn't screaming in pain taken as a verbal submission anyway? So saying "don't tap it's just a pain sub" doesn't even make sense if the guy is already screaming in pain
