depends on what you like, I guess. I love a good lightsaber duel way more than dudes flying around in x-wings. The phantom menace wasn't perfect, but if you can overlook the shitty jar jar parts, the rest is pretty damn good. It was the first time we actually got to see fully trained jedi doing their thing in their prime. And they had the 2nd best villain in all of star wars in Darth Maul. For me, he's actually number 1 but I know I'm in the minority there. Not to mention that it had the best music in the entire saga. Duel of the fates is a fucking epic song. Just when you think John Williams is over the hill he comes out with the best song he's ever composed.

I know you've all heard it before but I'm posting it anyway. Might be the most epic song in history

When you go into more detail I can totally see where you're coming from. The good stuff like Maul, Qui-Gon and Obiwan etc. is REALLY good imo.

It's just the council meetings and trade disputes and those fuckin gungans are so obnoxious to me.

Back when it first came out on vhs I had a bud that was HARDCORE into it. We use to argue for hours over whether the plot was stupid or not. But I did like replaying the duel of the fates at the end. One of the best lightsaber battles ever.

It had its flaws and it was a bumpy ride, but I found the positives of the movie to be infinitely more interesting than anything in the other movies below it.
