I think I have the same ranking. There's probably a lot of people that feel Prometheus and Covenant are worse than Resurrection, but I'm not one of them. I legitimately disliked that one at the time and have never been tempted to go back. To me, Prometheus operates in the space of cool idea, some cool visuals, shitty execution rife with plot holes. Covenant is less ambitious, arguably even more stupid in terms of character behavior, ludicrous at times but I like it better than both Prometheus and Resurrection. To me, it hinges mainly on Fassbender and Waterston. Fass kills it in both roles, as David and as Walter. He carries much of the film. Waterston's character was certainly no Ripley but I thought she was a capably solid protagonist to support. She did a good job.

I was also shocked that McBride was in no way a comedic relief and it was just a straight up role. He did well.

It's very similar to the Terminator franchise in a lot of ways. Two phenomenal classics that people often argue about in terms of which is superior.

Then a fall off a cliff in quality with some of the entries having their merits but nothing elevating above mediocrity or a state of relatively entertaining.

Alien, the best film.

Aliens was a great action film.

The rest have problems.

Maybe 3 for number 3.

Despite big issues with the script, I actually like Prometheus.

I wen back and forth between putting Prometheus or Covenant 3rd

But ultimately the first attack scene in Covenant wins for me.. upon rewatching it, theres some really twisted shit going on in that scene that I really like. The music/sound design killed it too. And a lot of people hate the ending but I like it a lot. Its so fuckin dark. I just imagine what David is doing out there now lol....

I'm the very few that actually liked Prometheus. I'm big on lore, so the Engineer theory intrigued me.

I had the same ranking. And yes, the whole Engineer thing was pretty fucking cool. I was hoping for some type of followup where whats her tits and Michael Fassbender's head went off looking for them. I wanted to see their civilization and culture.

I wanted to see their civilization and culture.

We see how they died out in Covenant. That's pretty cool. We get a glimpse of their home world technology, how they lived almost like a Mayan civilization.

1 and 2 tie. 1 for horror, 2 for action.

3
Resurrection (It was a fun movie and the characters didn’t go full retard)
Covenant
Prometheus

Overall I liked all of them to an extent. Coventry and Prometheus had tons of potential they ruined with bad writing and characters who were 1980s horror movie dumb. Still enjoyed them, but they could have great.

Except A vs P movies, fuck those.

Yeah, it's pretty much who gives a F after the first two.

The next four are all immensely flawed with somewhere between one good thing and a handful of good things about them.

Covenant is a piece of shit movie but I can watch everything Fassbender does as either character over again, and I can't think of anything any other character does that I would want to see again. Literally not one thing.

Prometheus looked good but at the expense of completely ruining the mythos of the franchise. The Space Jockey being a bald dude in a bony spacesuit is a fucking joke. Someone had to tell Ridley Scott to quit smoking crack. Fuck off Ridley, we all know it was a giant space elephant bio-merged with his spaceship. It was not Vin Diesel playing a flute to steer his spaceship.

Alien 3... The very thing James Cameron cited as a bad idea before following in its footsteps with Terminator: Dark Fate. The decent stuff that happened in Alien 3 was not worth the price paid to get there.

Alien: Resurrection. Hey why not get the guy that made Amelie to follow up James Cameron and David Fincher. Alien is the perfect forum for quirky French whimsical stuff, right?
