I was hoping some people could post the quotes they have of people how have trained and rolled with Rickson. I've seen some of them around.. but was hoping I might see some I hadn't seen from people I didn't know trained with him.

Paulo Filho said something along the lines of "Rickson is like an 8 armed anaconda that can read minds"

"Rickson is living in a fantasy world, like star wars" -Wanderlei Silva

Don't have an exact quote but I remember Eric Paulson saying he was very impressed with Rickson. Said he was showing him some unique knee-bar and leg lock attacks and half an hour later Rickson was tapping everyone (including high level black belts) with the techniques he just picked up.

When Paulson was learning under Rickson, he showed him some videotape of Shooto fights which had leglocks in it, and then as you say Rickson took what he saw and tapped students with them that same class. Paulson was the one to help Rickson fight in Shooto Vale Tudo Japan.

Can't resist adding a story...

2-3 years ago, University of Jiu Jitsu (Saulo) I'm told to come at noon for Pan Am camp training. I'm 6-7 months out of rotator cuff surgery and not doing Pan Ams, but I'm like I better go if I have been individually and specifically asked. The usual competitors were there like Xande, Saulo, Fredson, Paulo Guiobell sp?, Leo Santos, etc. Also Lovato and his guys, and I see Kron stretching and think this should be cool...

We all line up, and Xande lines up with the class, not up front and out of locker room walks Rickson, in a gi, and announces he's running practice !-) I know the details of the techniques is what everyone wants to read (as would I) but honestly he really showed simple adjustments to basic positions but I swear to God, Xande, Saulo, other champions all were amazed like they never considered the possibility of the concepts he showed. We all just were like "that's so simple, why isn't this ever taught?!?"

And the training.... :-) Diego Sanchez gets matched up with Kron in a 10 minute match with score counting. Diego hits 2-3 takedowns and 5 minutes left passes the guard and holds Kron pinned for 4 minutes with Rickson imploring him to escape. He escapes and guilotines Diego with 10 seconds to go, lol :-) and Diego disappointed in his self, no matter at 9:30 he was up like 9-0 in this scrimmage match, lol. Demonstrates how damn calm and patient Kron is, it was amazing.

I believe this was same day Cleber and Megaton had a WAR and tempers got way over heated. Same thing 10 minutes, starting standing with score kept. Imagine the pressure with all those champions watching, cheering, coaching....

Everyone wants to know I'm sure did Rickson roll?.... He did, and only with the best black belts, and since they all are so respectful of him and refer to him as Professor, I don't think it's taboo to generally mention how those rolls went. Let's just say Rickson started in mount and always escaped, and reversed the position after 5-6 minutes and no one escaped. Yes he did this with Xande (who was current world absolute champion) and Saulo (who was one year removed from 2nd place losing to Barral on points after beating 4 guys including Tarsis), and Rickson, with all due respect, had really looked like he had aged a bit and did or does not have the physique we all remember 10 years ago. I'd estimate he was 155-160 lbs at most. His technical flow was just overwhelming guys were commenting after.

The adjustments Rickson makes so subtle are what people refer to as his "invisible jiu jitsu." I've trained many times with most dynamic, progressive BJJ guys like Marcelo Garcia, Andre Galvao and Rickson didn't show any mind blowing positions like those guys...

Small example, problem was guys almost in full mount but their foot caught, like 1/4 guard, and Rickson asked all black belts what to do.... He simply showed how to grab the collar and make his head turn opposite side, and ur foot easily freed.

I know this example sounds to simple it's stupid, but the day Rickson showed techniques there were like 20 Mundial medalist competitors present and none of them could answer his questions, it was almost supernatural :-)

And to re-iterate, Rickson did not just teach on the side he rolled with the best of the best and he never was in a single bad position, and dominated everyone he trained with. I'm a believer, I saw it....

I am no great anything. As a purple I heard all the bullshit about Rickson and I thought as many on my Team ( What the F$%* ).
How good can a guy really be. Coming from the Carlson Gracie Team I had wrestled with the best and I knew what the damn deal
was. I was smoking everyone in tournaments as a purple back then and I figuered of course I would get worked but
I was pretty legit and it could not have been that bad if I rolled with Rickson.
I mean what could he possibly do that I had not seen. I got a private, I waited about 2 months for it.

I got so fucked up when we finally rolled I questioned everything and I mean everything that I had ever learned or thought
about Jiu-Jitsu.
I am a Black Belt today under World Champion Rodrigo Medeiros ( Carlson Gracie / BJJ Revolution Team ) I fight regularly in
MMA and I have trained with any and everyone you could imagine.

Rickson is FUCKING FOR REAL.
THERE IS NO MYSTIC, LEGEND OR MYSTERY. HE IS JUST A FUCKING REAL LIVE JIU-JITSU WAR MACHINE MONSTER THAT BRINGS GAME YOU
CANNOT COMPREHEND. UNLESS YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED IT YOU WILL NEVER KNOW AND MANY DON'T EVEN HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE TO KNOW HOW BAD
HE IS WHEN THE SESSION IS GOING DOWN BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT EVEN GOOD ENOUGH TO RECOGNIZE THE DOMINANCE THAT IS TAKING PLACE.

Check me out on OTM or Sherdog. I am legit and this motherfucker is off the fucking charts. What Paulo said doesn't surprise
me in the least.
I don't mean to rant and I jock ride no man ever. I rarely ever post on this website or any other. I am just dropping a peice
of knowledge that I possess so the masses know that my experience was felt and my life was changed by a guy that felt
inhuman to roll with.

I don't really believe anything any old school Gracie guy says about Rickson, but having that quote come from Tim Credeur adds a lot of credence in my eyes. Perhaps he's really that good.

Is this the first time you've heard a testimony of Rickson's skill from a non-old school Gracie guy? There have been plenty of others as well that are well-documented. I know some of them sound like BS, but Rickson really is on another level.

Renzo's daughter: "Is Rickson really as good as they say?"

Renzo:"He's that and much more."

The guy is/was really fucking good. Legions of blackbelts better than you or I will ever be have said as much, and the opinions of a few slapdick Sherdoggers might as well be worth dog-doo by comparison.

Its like someone telling you that transformers exist. A number of reputable people say they have encountered a transformer but its just too difficult to buy.

It reminds me of an interview with Robert Drysdale. He said that Roger Gracie isn't invincible, its just that he doesn't allow the other person let their game going. Perhaps the same is true of Rickson. He is very good at stopping people doing the stuff they are very good at.

There used to be a sticky for f12 subforum rules and Rickson's skill level was one of the banned topics. There have been so many damn threads about this, you don't even know.

Isn't there a story about him tapping out black belts with a cross collar shoke while UNDER mount
