Q&A on Thailand

Well you might want to check out Kaewsamrit...

Try not to come during the busy season, there can be a lot of people training and you won't get as much attention.

I was under the impression Kaewsamrit was more of an advanced gym, and they wouldn't really help beginners, but maybe I was wrong.

Also, when is busy season?

GOD! i just wanna finish my bachelors degree, quit my job, drop everything and get out of this lazy paradise of an island and go to Thailand and train everyday with the greats for a year.

Ok, well maybe i'm getting ahead of myself here, i should probably visit first to see if i like it...

But if i do, would 15-20k suffice to live for a year in Thailand?

No, they're really good with training at all levels. It's pretty much what you're looking for, serious training but very accommodating to beginners.

Madame (The boss' wife) told me that Summer and Winter are the busiest times for the gym. When I arrived at the beginning of August almost all the rooms were booked but by the last two weeks of August there were only about 6 foreigners including myself staying and training there.

you can live like a fucking king off that for a year

im planning on taking a week or two in pattaya before hitting the gym hard, what would the price range on a hotel (not really nice or too shitty). A guideline so i got an idea would be nice :)

Also if I'm staying for 6 months at a hotel they will give me a large discount?

Will a camp give me a discount if I tell them I have had kickboxing fights back home and will fight while in Thailand?

For a hotel or a guesthouse? What do you need?

You can get a decent guesthouse for 600-1000baht a nice.

Hotel for 800-1500baht.

You can go cheaper than these prices and more expensive depending what you are looking for. I've seen rooms as cheap as 250baht and others at 6000baht.

Decent cheap accommodation on LK Metro and some of the streets away from the main area. Tons of budget guesthouses to look through there. You can get better deals if you get a room for a week or month over the daily rate.

Check some of these ones out.

All I'm waiting for is the housing market to recover enough to where I can sell my condo and not lose money. Then I am moving to Thailand sure. This past summer I was offered a teaching job at a fairly large international school in Bangkok that pays 100,000baht/mo, but had to turn it down because of this damn condo...which I am very bitter about.

My friend just spent 16 months in Thaiand for about 15k. He lived very simple and was up in Pai for more than half of the time.

100k month? Nice! What sort of teaching credentials do you have to secure that?

Jobs I've seen pay around 30-40k lol

Do not stay at the 250 baht ones. Cockroaches may exit the pipes at night

Depends on the place. Not all cheap rooms are dirty. I have stayed in budget rooms in many places and had good and bad experiences. It helps to research or check rooms out in advance before booking.

Training is what you make out of it. I understand why some of you guys piss on Tiger but I really want to make of it as a "training holiday". Training holiday does not equal not drunken whore-mongering Eurotrash girl chasing:icon_chee.

But I can see why its quite popular with Americans or other Farangs.

Most of the 30-40k teaching jobs are for teaching english at a language school. I would be teaching the same thing I teach here, Physical Education. I have a degree, teaching license in VA and NY, and have 7 years experience. It is very rare for a licensed teacher to make below 60K baht a month in Thailand.

International School Bangkok starts their teachers off at $48,469 USD...which is very very nice for Thailand.

Damn. I assume those jobs are hard to come by though.
