yes sinbi is very good,

as for rawaii, i spent 5 weeks there on my first trip to thailand, had a great time, had some crazy nights, made some good mates,

but....... as a muay thai camp its shit, people a lot more interested in getting pissed up rather than training, i would never go back

but then ive been back to sinbi 5 times and counting the days until i can go back

Dammit guys I'm envy. Hopefully next March my parents will allow me to go there and my school will approve my leave of absence. I'm considering Sinbi right now.

Nice...mines booked for the same day!

nice where are you flying out of?

What's your arrival date?

My flight arrives at 7:55pm in BKK. It might be 6:55pm if daylight savings??? I think it starts around the 4th?

Arrival times are almost always given in local time, and Bangkok does not have daylight savings time (just FYI).

It's also important to note that most of the original staff from Rawai is long gone. I went there on my first trip many, many years ago, and it was a decent place to learn as a day one beginner, and I met a lot of good dudes, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it.

I love Sinbi and that's where I always end up, but I've heard a lot of good things about the new Patong muay Thai camp as well.

For those of you travelling to Thailand in late October/November, buy a poncho.

where you coming from? Where are you gonna train? I'm gettin there on October 3rd and I think I'm gonna train at WMC in Koh Samui.

Which camps do you guys recomend for a beginner? I was looking at some camps (most notable Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket). Which camp would be good for me to learn as a beginner, but one that's not oriented towards slackers and guys who just go to Thailand to party.

why do so many of you americans head to tiger.
they must be promoting themselves well in your country.
is it the mma factor cause i wouldn't piss on that camp if it was on fire

YouTube - rawaimuaythai's Channel

they seem to be pretty active when it comes to fighting

Rawai is very active in at the stadiums in Phuket and for those who don't mind fighting a cab driver by day and a fighter at night go for it. I saw at least four fights that were what I would consider rigged. I don't blame some of the Thais for fighting for an easy pay check but the foreigners that fight these individuals at Patong and Bangla stadiums think that are big shit after they win.

They training at Rawai is great for those who don't really have a clue about muaythai and want brag to the buddies back home that they trained in the "tropics" with Namsaknoi as it states on their website. You have to go there and experience Rawai for yourself. Once you've had some good training, you know what to look for and what to stay away from. My experience was this; It was my third day there and 3 Swedish chicks showed up and were scoping the place out. All the trainer forgot what they were there for and started trying to put on a clinic and students that were on pads. I just happened to be one of them. The trainers name that I was working with name is Fhad. He tried to come at me more intensely since it appeared that they were watching us in the ring. He tagged me with the pads a couple times as if I did something wrong so when he stepped in again I Teeped in his chest and off of his feet. Some of the other trainers saw that and they immediately came over to me and another trainer named Bangman got in the ring. He not try to hurt be but I could see that he was not pleased with what I had done. As soon as I finished my rounds with Bangman, he offered me a fight at Bangla. From that point on, Fhad was looking at me dirty.

Another thing that pissed me off is they don't protect their fighters. The same day I had my incident, my friend Dani from Spain had had a match at Bangla. I remember seeing that funny red truck driving around the Nai Harn, Rawai and Phromthep Cape areas announcing the fights that were scheduled in Patong. Dani was supposed to fight a guy that had 7 fights with 4 losses. Instead, his opponent is changed at the last minute and he gets outclassed badly! KTFO in 1:39 of rd 1. Dani had a few kickboxing matches back in Spain but after the fight, we got news that his new opponent had upwards of 75 fights!!! Now, if you are a trainer at a gym and a local guy has that many fights, whether they are wins or losses, you should know who he is and tell your fighter that he shouldn't take the match instead of letting him get thrashed.

On a side note, I think Namsaknoi is only there for the easy money he makes from students doing privates. It's a great hustle and it's too easy.

ray elbe does alot of recruiting through forums (sherdog is one of the few that he doesnt)

its run by an english speaking guy (comforting to some farang)

we hear about alot of pro mma fighters going there to sharpen their muay thai

the thought of training at a resort island destination is apealling to some as well

i myself have no desire to train there, but i see why many americans do
