When Brock, who from all accounts HATED Pro wrestling when he joined the UFC, couldn't give a shit about it. He joins the UFC, and he said "I had to get out of there, I needed some real competition, and you can't get that in WWE, and when you're eating a fistful of painkillers and drinking a bottle of vodka to numb the pain, and you're travelling every day, I just couldn't take it anymore". and that was it.

Phil on the other hand not only talked shit about wrestling itself, he also talked shit about his colleagues saying "They don't have the balls that I do to do this", he talked shit about the fans of pro wrestling, and just generally acted like the litle prick that he is. Had he just shut his damned mouth and gotten on with it, it wouldn't be anywhere near as bad as it is now.

You guys act like we are picking on someone kid who survived cancer and is just trying to live his dream. Punk is a POS, he's always been a POS. His fanboys continue to give him a pass at every juncture but the dude is a raging douche who continues to burn the majority of his bridges in life and only thinks about himself. If he was 10% of a decent human being i'd feel bad for guy but fuck that guy. He has no one to blame but himself.


I hope Gall goes far in the UFC


 
Imagine if Punk ends up popping for PEDs too.

I don't so much as give him a pass for being a douche at times (he is) as much as I don't care if he is a douche at times. Why do you care about his personality? @Smigg, same question - why?

I don't see how that's possible. How you gone cut 35 lbs from your wrestling weight and still not have any abs?
 
I have no sympathy for Phil Brooks. I'm a life long wrestling fan, and have even taken bumps in a PW ring. I've also been doing martial arts for a decade and am a GJJ blue belt who competes (once a year). I think I can objectively say that he was delusional. He has no natural fighting ability that I can discern, and if he was a real fan and supporter of the sport of MMA he would have never gone along with this horse and pony show. Hell, at least Batista trained and quietly fought some journeyman on a local ham and egger show after getting some experience in the gym instead of going up the card of a UFC event.

If Punk really thought the fight was gonna go any better than that for him then he most certainly has delusions of grandeur. Go back a few years and ask yourself this: what would have been punk's response if WWE booked him to open a PPV while say Ashton Kutcher was working a main event program on the same card? I would bet he would feel the same say about that as all the "haters" feel about him getting a fight in the UFC with zero experience.

And he didn't train for "years". The guy spent probably a total of 8-10 months on the shelf. When you start training with zero experience, and then take a multi month break, you may has well have not trained at all. That's not enough time before taking a break to develop any real muscle memory or skill. Some of us lift in there. Imagine taking a couch potato, having them bench 3 days a week for two months and then take 3 months off with no weight lifting at all during that time. You think they will have retained any of the gains they made? Hell no.
