The one thing I didn't expect is I'd feel a little bad for CM Punk.

EVERYBODY won last night except him. Dana White legitimazed the elite level that is the UFC, you know damn well Trips told Steph to break out a bottle of Möet, but Phil is realizing that despite losing, this was not a "cool experience" to tell. He got embarrased, to the point where he can't even use the "well at least I got in the cage" argument, because he trained full time for two years and he didn't even throw a single punch.

The only thing that will make this funnier is if it bombs in PPV buys, which would put paid to the "But... Punk's a huge draw! He'd have been a better 'Stone Cold' than Steve Austin ever was!"

Christ you sound bitter. I like Cm Punk and think he is and alright guy. But even I didn't think he was going to win. But as he said he would have been stupid to turn down the UFC when they came calling. If you want to bitch about something, bitch about Dana White and the others offering him a contract in the first place.

Trust me, I've talked shit about the UFC doing this in the first place, especially considering Dana said the same shit about other companies doing it (Herschel Walker, Kimbo Slice, Jose Canseco etc.), only to turn around and do the same thing, with James Toney and Punk. It also flies in the face of someone saying "But.. WWE put Taker, Brock, Rock, HHH and all these other guys in main events to pop a buyrate!"

Did you not see the smile he had walking out. Guy is finally happy after being so miserable in his final months at WWE. Also got paid and now AJ can take care of him.

Regardless, it doesn't matter who you are, no one should get in the UFC octagon with a 0-0 record and especially with no background whatsoever.

Having Punk beat some bum somwhere else, he wouldn't have gotten even half the hate he got.

I don't like CM Junk but him coming out to his WWE theme was awesome. Or he had rights to the music? I found out late that WWE was coming here for another show. Heard it was a great show.
