We all know it's only a matter a time before neckbeards turn on Big Cass like they did with Roman because is going to get a push that they want for one for their darlings. The most they push him on tv, the angrier smarks are going to get.

The upside to Cass is academic:
(1) big physical presence (it's best for business)
(2) still young and still healthy (no Nash knees on him)
(3) capable enough on the mic that a manager/valet can make up the difference

So is the downside:
(1) This "seven foot tall" shtick gonna get exposed but he's still at a size were longevity is a gamble
(2) mic ability necessitates manager/valet
(3) The "We're from the neighborhood" gimmick doesnt fly as well when it's "I'm from the neighborhood."

After a year on the main roster, I think it's too soon to split up the act that's greater than the sum of its parts and gets huge reactions every night. Heel Carmella was a mistake, too. Her plus one more NY/NJ member and it would make an interesting stable.

Agree that they should stay together even if they are no longer an official tag team. Cass vs. Brock should be triggered by Brock throwing Enzo off the balcony at a show.
 
Or maybe Brock could pick Enzo up by the feet and hit Carmella with him.
 
If Cass can deliver on promos, and isn't turned into Cena 2.0, the fans will treat him just fine.

I love this fantasy that the fans turned on Roman just because. The fans liked Roman fine, until he was turned into a nursery rhyme spouting, cringe-inducing wise cracking Cena clone. He was forced into a light-hearted "hero" role, and it was lame, so the fans shat all over it.

The fans don't like like lame characters, and guys who can't cut a promo. That's all it comes down to. If Cass drops his cocky attitude, starts pandering to children, and mumbles through half his promos, all while getting a massive push, guess what? They'll shit on him too.

I think it's a bit of both. Romans flaws became really obvious as he was being pushed. And it was completely obvious he was uncomfortable with his character which is the absolute worse for a main eventer. But I also think smarks are quick to jump off someone's wagon once they make it to the top.

I don't think so. Look at AJ. Been pushed to the top since day 1. Fans like him. Seth has been pushed for a while now. They haven't turned on him. Dean? Nope. Brock? Nope(and he's a part-timer FFS).

I think the anti-neckbeard brigade likes to cherry pick examples when it fits their narrative. I mean really, all they have for this theory not including Cena, is Roman and Batista. That's it. Two guys who were forced down the fans throats, when there were better options. Two guys who absolutely sucked in the roles they were given.

Creative fucked Roman up, not the fans. If they had just kept him as a dominant ass-kicker(ALA Brock), and not this "against all odds" wise-cracking Cena clone, I guarantee he would still be a big fan favorite.
 
Any one thought joe vs Naku is a top 1-5 match this year? The others i can think of is joe vs finn cage match and aj vs cena at summerFest.

The fact that he wrestled such an exciting style, was funny on the mic, had a great catchphrase, put on classics every match and STILL got boo'd out of every building is amazing and reason why he's one of the best.

Revisionist history, they booed him because they deemed him "not ready" in the eyes of smarks and wanted Daniel Bryan to be crippled at the hands of Bork Laser because the match would be 5 stars and Bryan was going to win.

It was very good, but I didn't think it was even the best match on that card. I thought The Revival vs. DIY was better. There have been some great matches this year.

AJ/Reigns (both of them)
The Revival vs. DIY
The Revival vs. American Alpha
Charlotte/Sasha/Becky triple threat at Mania
The Shield Triple threat
Roman/Dean/Brock triple threat
Nakamura vs. Zayn
Owens vs. Zayn

Amid all the stupid shit on Raw week in and week out, there have been a lot of great matches in WWE and NXT.

They really had no choice but to turn Carmella heel.

Plus Reigns didn't have the indy "cred" of Ambrose and Rollins.
 
I used to wrestle with my friends in my parents basement (NTTAWWT). That should give me a fair bit of indy cred.
 


#1 and #2 specifically is why Roman Reigns is hated to this day.
