PWD 341: Don't Shoot Yourself Into a Work

Back to 97 WWE viewing and post Survivor Series is amazing, heavy story-lines and little in-ring action as per Russo style booking but it worked. Heel HBK 97-98 is one of the GOAT heels of all time, the ability to switch serious/comedy with DX on an instant while being the most unlikable heels in the entire business at the time (WWE,WCW or ECW).

Ken Shamrock in a short time got build up to be a credible challenger and potential main eventer, it just his mic skills let him down at this time. At best, I could envision Shamrock as a short-term champion in 97/98 but come 99 the ship has sailed by then. If he had a mouthpiece and be the cyborg destroyer like when he was IC champ he could of been an handy addition to an already stacked main-event rotation (Austin, Rock, Mankind, Undertaker, Kane)

The rise of the New Age Outlaws happened around this time becoming tag champs dethroning the LOD after going up the tag team ladder. To think Road Dogg stated in a interview that win and losses don't matter, if it wasn't for the win streak the NAO went on in late 97/98 both Gunn/Dogg would be still curtain opener on Shotgun Saturday Night.

Bubba logic when he argues against dirt sheets and then for dirt sheets in the same hour:

Russo would have a blast with this roster. So many dream matches that are basically given away on TV and repeated endlessly to the point they lost their luster.

He lost his mind in WCW, but in WWE where they had him on a leash, he damn sure knew how to fill 3 hours of entertaining quality TV every week without going full retarded.

I'm finally getting around to the cruiser weight classic and it's got a wonderfully retro vibe to it. It feels like the 80s to me with better production value.

Is Holy Foley worth checking out?

How to Watch Holy Foley.
1. Get tissues and lube of choice.
2. Pause it on a shot of Noelle with cleavage or ass.
3. Masturbate.
4. Wash your hands and make a sandwich.

Congratulations you just successfully watched Holy Foley!!!

Thats because 80s metal was ridiculous and Grunge exposed them for the clowns they were.

other than Metallica I would rather listen to just about any grunge band all day than winger and poison and motley crue and shit like that.

Hair bands and metal aren't the same thing chief.

Is Holy Foley worth checking out?

No, it's really not. It's too boring for it to be a comedy show, and it's too wacky to be a reality show and for as good a promo as he was, Mick can't deliver lines, his wife tries way too hard to be kooky and it's... bleurgh.

It's clearly Mick trying to go the same route that Hogan tried to get Brooke famous, but Noelle seems like a nice girl, and she's incredibly hot, but she's never going to be famous for anything outside of "Mick Foley's hot daughter".

That's too bad. I had high hopes because I've always liked Mick and I want to have sex with Noelle.

Watching RAW now. Getting caught on this week's WWE.

Opening promo was awful.

– PWInsider (via Wrestling Inc) reports that WWE officials are very high on Big Cass. Cass continues to earn praises backstage, with officials reportedly “seeing money” in him.

We all know it's only a matter a time before neckbeards turn on Big Cass like they did with Roman because is going to get a push that they want for one for their darlings. The most they push him on tv, the angrier smarks are going to get.
Classic example. Fucken hate those gay fucken neckbeards. Yep, i think its so stupid when they chant "you deserve it" shut the fuck up, you dont get to decide who deserves shit.

Wouldn't look too much into it, homeboy was backstage last year too. ROH event in Brooklyn happens to coincide with SummerSlam, just like Field of Honor did last year. This year is even less surprising considering he's good buddies with Nakamura from their New Japan days and Joe/Styles from their TNA days, who were all probably present backstage at SummerSlam.

I'm not that high on Big Cass. I appreciate him but his flaws are what Enzo's strengths are and vice versa. Also, the East River Crossing is a shit finisher.

If Cass is going to be pushed to the top then keep Enzo with him no matter what. Doing the typical some twat betrays another thing will kill both of their careers.

Did you watch 96?

96 was my favorite year so I started there and now into mania 97. The magic really begins around survivor series 96. The shawn Michaels / psycho Sid/ Bret hart/ stone cold/ Vader/ taker carousel fued with all of them going after each other in hopes of being champion and battling personal grudges is absolutely brilliant. starts pre survivor series and lasts until mania with a great build up every raw
