Back to 97 WWE viewing and post Survivor Series is amazing, heavy story-lines and little in-ring action as per Russo style booking but it worked. Heel HBK 97-98 is one of the GOAT heels of all time, the ability to switch serious/comedy with DX on an instant while being the most unlikable heels in the entire business at the time (WWE,WCW or ECW).
Ken Shamrock in a short time got build up to be a credible challenger and potential main eventer, it just his mic skills let him down at this time. At best, I could envision Shamrock as a short-term champion in 97/98 but come 99 the ship has sailed by then. If he had a mouthpiece and be the cyborg destroyer like when he was IC champ he could of been an handy addition to an already stacked main-event rotation (Austin, Rock, Mankind, Undertaker, Kane)
The rise of the New Age Outlaws happened around this time becoming tag champs dethroning the LOD after going up the tag team ladder. To think Road Dogg stated in a interview that win and losses don't matter, if it wasn't for the win streak the NAO went on in late 97/98 both Gunn/Dogg would be still curtain opener on Shotgun Saturday Night.
