PWD 341: Don't Shoot Yourself Into a Work

I think those few months Roman missed with the hernia really fucked up his momentum. That time off also let the focus stay on Seth and Dean more, which showed people how good they were. It had always just kind of been assumed that Roman would be "the guy" to come out of the Shield, but his time away let people see that Seth and Dean were absolutely on his level, at the very least.

Then Roman came back and had some stumbles in his promos, still had fairly rudimentary wrestling compared to Seth and Dean, and was given absolute shit to work with in terms of his character and those dreadful cartoony promos they gave him. The Rock, Stone Cold, and maybe Jericho could have taken the Jack and the Beanstalk shit and maybe ran with it and made it their own and made it funny, but I don't know that anyone else ever could have done anything not terrible with it. So that time period just amplified his promo weaknesses instead of trying to hide them.

Add to that the fact that Daniel Bryan was back but not going back to the top of the card, and it was a recipe for disaster. I was at the Rumble in Philly and I felt bad for the guy. The WWE left him hung out to dry and it was mostly due to their own mistakes on the creative side.

A year and a half later, he's grown in leaps and bounds in the ring. His promos aren't great, but when they're kept short he can deliver, which is more than some guys can do. My only problem with Roman today is that character is still all fucked up. Sometimes he's still the golly gee babyface. Then he kills HHH and starts to get some good heat. Then he's back to the golly gee underdog (which makes no sense for a guy who looks and wrestles like him). Then he acts like kind of a dick again but it doesn't last. It's like they can't decide whether to bite the bullet and let him be a beast (and a heel) or whether to stay the course and force the "new John Cena" thing that just ain't working. The guy has a lot of talent, but I fear they're ruining him and if they don't right the shit soon it might be hard to ever come back from it.

I think they had a shot of fixing it after last year's TLC when he was the ass kicking remorseless monster that we loved after he beat the shit out of Triple H, there would have been money in him chasing the title, getting screwed over and over, and week after week beating the shit out of people, but they put the belt on him the next night, and he was over-pushed again and happy again, and then there was no saving. If they are only gonna have him do the ass-kicking gimmick as a heel, then he needs to turn sooner rather than later, if he wins Monday but turns I'd be fine with that, but if he just wins it as a babyface again then the boos will be back stronger than ever.

Its like people post their actual reasons in this thread of why they don't like Roman's character, and then you just go "lalalalalalala I'm not readinnnnnnng or listeninnnnnnnnnng!!!!!" Not being ready is because they didn't view his character as a main event of Mania babyface yet, dude what the fuck is wrong with your brain.

Because of all their "reasons" happened AFTER RR 2015. At that point, they was no reason to boo outside of the fact he wasn't Daniel Bryan, you of all people should know that because you were the #1 person on that bandwagon.

Excellent point. I didn't go for Dean Ambrose as my favorite of the Shield cause "hey he killed himself for $50 a night so he loves this!". Never watched CZW in my life, never heard of Jon Moxley, didn't even watch him in NXT. Just liked his character. I'm sure there are a ton of smarks out there who anointed Seth and Dean "their guys" due to their backgrounds but I don't buy that as an excuse for why Roman gets boo'd.
It is why do you think those fucken neckbeard always chant" you deserve it" Vince is right fans dont know what they want Vince does.
By your example of Romans character not being good. Well you think he has a fucken say in what he can do? The dude does excellent on being told what to do yet neckbeards boo him bc they think he got it easy and no indy cred, ridiculous.

Example heath slater, shitty gimmick ( given by writers, same as Roman)but he does his best to pull it off and fans now start chanting his name. Hmm same as Roman situation but bc neckbeards know he has indy cred despite not having the body for a main event they cheer and applaud him but boo Roman. These neckbeards just need to dissapear...

Reigns' run from coming back from injury to the Rumble was pretty dreadful. Again, I place most of the blame on WWE for giving him garbage to work with. But it was still pretty dreadful.

"You're all retards except me!" "Neckbeards!" meanwhile on sherdog most of day and plugging movie website.....

It's hilarious that the same people who legitimately thought that the only reason Daniel Bryan wasn't cleared to wrestle was because Vince was holding him back to favor Roman Reigns are now trying to pretend to be the most reasonable posters on this board, as if everyone on here has forgotten exactly what they have been saying on here for the last 3 years.

People were booing Roman at Summerslam against Randy! They were booing him after his botched TLC promo and ALL OF US knew they were setting him up for Brock, people booed that because they saw it NINE MONTHS OUT. They also saw Roman wasn't ready, Daniel had already main evented a wrestlemania and was an established over babyface. People wanted to see the greatest technical wrestler vs the monster, because yes the size difference would be crazy, but the story of the ultimate david vs super goliath is an interesting one. People were mad yes that the babyface that had been the most over guys two years going on was getting bypassed over a big guy that wasn't ready. People don't just abstractly hate Joe Anoai because he's big and strong and good looking, they didn't think he was ready enough as A WRESTLER to main event WRESTEFUCKINGMANIA where the main eventers are supposed to be the biggest and best and most over wrestlers in the company.

Watching this week's CWC. I really like the guy that Kendrick beat last week. I like how he blends mat wrestling, power moves, and high flying stuff.

I don't know why you group me as people you maybe read from WrestleForum but LMAO if you think I thought that doctors wouldn't clear Daniel because they wanted Roman to get over. I don't know if you have problems in real life with identifying what people said what things, but I think it'd be useful on your end to acquire that ability and stop attributing statements to the wrong people.

Is Holy Foley worth checking out?

It's fucking shitty as in 2006 level of fucking unbelievable scripted shittiness.

Utterly unbelievable.

Foley is fun to watch but it is unbelievably old school shitty scripted reality tv.

Divas is more believable.

Its the same ppl bitching about the product being horrible. Yet this year we have had some of the best matches and mens and divas roster in over a decade. Before this we had wrestlemania and ppvs being headline by vanilla midgets and has beens like cmpuke and bryan. They got injured, left, got stale whatever etc. We should be rejoicing we left the dark ages and now have legit superstars carryong the brand. Before this i ignored the whole wwe universe bc of the hullshit they had. Miz headlining compared to brock? Hmm wonder which one is better. Like i said, fuckyou neckbeards! Wwe is better now, and Roman will win the title come monday..........
Right here.......
In
HOUSTON Tx!!! LMAO

Bruh, you are been the main one driving this Bryan or bust bandwagon the last 3 years. We can pull up your posts, I dunno why you are trying to deny this.

I didnt want to mention it before, but my PWD fellow members who were talking about opiate addiction and dealing with it. I'm right there with you guys. You wouldn't believe how accessible it is where I live, and how cheap it is (actually you probably would). I'm able to support my habit and still make money off of it. I cant remember the last day I didnt take any pills.

Anyways, I been busy at work all day. Did we find out if the Miz/DBry thing was a work?

Shit man.

I know how cold turkey stopping the beer and booze after a week on a yacht is vomit gut wrenching sweating shitting yourself no eating shit so your pill rehab is going to be murderous.

I was also in a chemical relationship as in we used to pop mdma with my gf every fucking day for a couple of months but apart from being depressed for a week I felt fine. I also went to work every day during that time.

I've been a Bryan mark yes. You just said I thought doctors were holding Bryan back so that Roman could get over, that's fucking dumb, I never said that, because I'm not dumb.

Best to leave Struggs alone when he goes off on one of these rants. He isn't the biggest fan of anything that goes against his narrative. For a dude who routinely rips on SJWs, he sure as shit loves to use their tactics.

Disagree with his views? You're a neckbeard!!!!

Just like an SJW. Can't handle dissenting opinions. Resorts to name calling to shut down discussion.

This coming from the same guy who said last Monday that the fans are so smart they were inspired by Seth Rollins's promo where he was basically calling them assholes for booing his match the night before. The same fans chanting "you deserve it" to Finn Balor. He's been on the roster 5 minutes and got hurt in his first match, he doesn't deserve shit.

Had they decided to run with Daniel Bryan rather than create a perception that he would not be chasing the title and would not get his Mania moment, Roman would have got over as he should have.

The Smarks really turned on the company at that time and we're still seeing the vibrations from that.

We had the Cena years. It happened. So when the company shows their hand on a supposedly anointed top guy, they're going to be hesitant to support it because it might mean 5 strait years of superman push.
