Never got the hype at all. The most impressive wins on his resume are Eddie Alvarez 15 years ago and past his prime Benson Henderson.

He's not supposed to be the guy. He's the guy who loses to the guy but puts on a good fight. But now he can't do that because he's old. There is a reason Conor never gave him his fight.

My post was mostly coming from a place of back when I actually participated in the MMA forums, having to read everyone hype him up as the greatest lightweight on the planet that would wreck the UFC while he was in Bellator, even though he had several stinkers in Bellator. He came to the UFC and got a title shot after one win beating a guy coming off a loss, so I think UFC expected him to be a top guy. He got a pretty good promotional machine put behind him after that debut, but he's pretty much just been getting outclassed ever since.

I've always rooted against him cause guy would talk a big game, then when he'd lose or go to a boring decision win it would always be "I was hurt" "judges screwed me" "I'd beat him 9 out of 10" etc. Was never classy in defeat ever. My dislike for the guy really started when he dropped two in a row to Will Brooks. He was fucking insufferable after both of those losses, always rooted against him since lol
