That's usually how the good schools are made up. They have a pipeline starting from their youth wrestling. They'll have D1 wrestlers coming in or the team going out and training directly with them. My son's school just got a NAIA all american as a coach a couple years ago and it was a big deal. But NAIA is like D2/D3 equivalent just to put it in perspective. And nothing against him, he a great guy. It's just not all programs out here are equal. I pay for him to go to at least two camps a summer with NCAA champs but that's just a few days twice a year. These top schools are getting to train with them all the time. The girls don't necessarily need all that to make state out here, obviously it helps and to get to the national level they will. But we had a girl on our team medal at state last year and we aren't anything special. It was funny, that girl is the same grade as my son, they been wrestling together on the same team since middle school. This summer my son gained a lot of weight so they are both around 192. She wanted to wrestle him this summer and he destroyed her. I remember asking him if she gave him a hard time when they wrestled and he looked at me like I was dumb. Well, excuse me damn!
