This is why I almost always prefer the monster X receivers that will run you over instead of run by/around you, and if youre able to stay with them youve still got to best them on 50/50 balls.

Agreed. A low 40 time doesn't mean you'll be good. But an incrediblly low 40 time might get you a roster spot at least. When I think of the best all time WRs, none of them are incredible low 40 time guys. Honestly for most football players, I'm more concerned with 10-15 yard times, reaction, and how quick you can get up to top speed, change directions, etc vs straight 40. I think it's pretty rare a player just straight up runs 40 yards at any point in an NFL game.

That may be true, but I don't think most teams envision picking a hall of fame gunner at #7 pick overall in a draft. I mean, the Raiders did draft a fat punter in the first round, so nothing with them surprises me. And the JaMarcus Russel. To be fair on that one, anyone at the top of that draft would have drafted JaMarcus though. Raiders weren't the only ones with him at the top of their draft board.
