Yeah it has some features but I think myself and every other PS4 user would trade that for the option to turn it off.

I agree about the option to turn it off would of been great, as soon as the update came in for dimming it came in i made sure to do that straight away.

Still amazed how long my DS3's last.

I've seen it mentioned that the LED isn't the main cause of power drain in the controller but everytime i see someone mention it they dont really post a source to go with it which is a pain in the ass

Yeah my DS3 can last for weeks with moderate use. I love that thing.

I doubt it’s the main power draw but it’s an additional power draw which sucks.

I had a shock when mine wouldnt charge thinking wow its finally died, turns out one of the front USB ports had died

How can AMD work with both consoles at the same time? Of course it would be just two separate teams, but I don't see the point in MS and Sony having the exact same supplier. Again, the consoles will be virtually identical.
Because all they supply is the hardware. It makes no difference to them what their customers do with it. They just make an engine. They don't care what kind of car MS or Sony builds around it.

That's already the way it is right now, btw. The Xbox One and PS4 operate on identical (though customized) AMD architecture.

Not sure if its true, but one of the replies say that line 2 says "Demon Souls Remake", damn.

We built a 'next-gen' Zen 2/Navi-based PC - how much faster is it than current-gen consoles?
Eurogamer doing their thing. They and Digital Foundry are just about the only websites that know their asses from their elbows that devote any kind of serious space towards technical speculation & analyses of the consoles:

This is what Asus decided ought to perform roughly equally to the PS5. Eurogamer and Digital Foundry usually afford ~30% processing power overhead to their mimic PC in order to acknowledge the advantage in optimization the console versions of games are afforded.
  • CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X with Wraith Prism cooler
  • GPU: Asus ROG Strix RX 5700XT (RX 5700 also used)
  • Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix B450F Gaming
  • Memory: 2x 8GB DDR4 3600MHz
  • Storage: 1TB NVMe SSD
  • Power Supply: Asus ROG 650W
  • Optical Drive: Pioneer 4K UHD Blu-ray
  • Case: Coolermaster N300

The GPU's clock really is impressively high, but on top of that, easily the most impressive jump here will be in CPU performance. Leaping from 1.8GHz in the previous gen's baseline to 3.2GHz, still octacore, with the even higher RISC architectural improvements, is going to supercharge the consoles, especially if they manage to use GDDR6 RAM as shared system RAM again like they did with GDDR5 for the PS4.

It's no wonder the Dev Kit has a design that is so obviously devoted to better cooling.
Much, much better specs than the ps4 and xbone had for their era so that’s nice. Wonder what the target price is going to be

Very impressive, i've even read that some industry insiders are saying the release of the new consoles could be the death knell for PC gaming. I hope not as i was planning to get a decent rig in a few months.

It’s not going to be the death of pc gaming. That’s sensational nonsense

looks a ton better than last generation though which was a big let down IMO

come on, man. you're smarter than this.

for the past 20 years, how many times have we heard about the death of PCs and the death of consoles? over and over and over with that dumb shit. hey, remember when PC gaming/consoles died? me neither.

IIRC the X360 and the PS3 had tech beyond the PCs of their era. Nothing happened.

This has been @Fraz's gimmick for over four years, now. There's no time like the present to wise up.

Light bar is still on the DS5 so far in development, Peter Rubin is the writer who do did the Wired articles including the hands on one a couple of months back.

Do we know if our PS4 digital libraries will transfer over to PS5? I don’t buy discs anymore, just digital games. Hopefully it doesn’t bite me in the ass.

Don't see why it shouldn't with the backwards compatibility , hopefully some more news on that comes after the new year
