Prostate Surgery Redux

Couple of notes:.

Before this surgery I was maxed on meds. Tamsulosin and finasteride. There were days where things were ok, but many where they weren't. I had no other options but to get another procedure.

I was reluctant but ultimately went in for the urodynamics test a couple of months ago to test bladder strength. My bladder was mighty but I was obstructed. Hence the surgery

The surgery I had in April was not a total waste as I had a protrusion from my prostate into my bladder. That was dealt with. The hope was that first surgery would have been enough. It wasn't.

Finally, @High Test With da Best, truthfully having a catheter is not that bad. Before having one (now twice and during tests) I wouldn't have believed that statement either. But it definitely doesn't warrant a DNR. 😂

Yeah I bet it's fine, haven't had the pleasure yet myself. Probably even less bothersome if you're mostly resting before/after a procedure instead of climbing trees to top them just for fun as posters here casually do to pass the time.

I had a catheter when I had my first knee replaced. It was placed while I was anesthetized and removed the following day. It didn't bother me at all. I suppose it might depend on the comparative size of the catheter being inserted and the passage it's inserted into.

My doctor had me on Tamsulosin and it didn't help urination. I saw a video where a guy was drinking stinging nettle tea and it allowed him to pee freely like he used to. I decided to try it but I didn't like the tea. I found stinging nettle pills and they worked very well so I stopped taking Tamsulosin. It's great to be able to empty my bladder.

Any update? Still working for you? I been peeing too much. Doctor has me on flomax but no results.

My uncle complained on the same things (difficulty in emptying his bladder) at age 40, surgery was recommended. He started Tamsulosin - and within 3 days he said he could pee a stream like he hadn't been able to in years. He said no side effects at all were noticed.

Phuck letting Dr. Jekyll make $100 Grand plus to, IMHO, criminally do a major unnecessarily surgery of removing an "inflamed prostate" when Tamsulosin pills were available... and been used successfully for years.

Flomax can only do so much and doesn't work for everyone
 
Good luck sherbro! I have inflammation from an auto immune so sometimes I get inflammation in my urethra which causes "reiters syndrome"--painful urination. So anything with peeing the docs check the prostate constantly. NOT FUN. No Diddy.

I was going to resurrect this thread. Thanks for doing so.

Well. It was great for about 4 months. But it has slowly gotten mor difficult to pee. At night it is almost like it was before the surgeries except there is no pain. I AM FIGHTING to pee at night. During the day it's not so bad but I have to double void so it can take me 5-10 minutes to go.

If it's like this I can live with it. The agony of the past is gone. But so is the superpower.

I have a new growth/obstruction apparently. So another surgumay be in the offing for next year.

There is another medicine they can give you ontop of flowmax. I can't remember what it's called.

Just checked my cabinet: tamsulosin and finasteride. I'm not sure which is which.

I haven't taken it since the second surgery but may have to start up again.

I never had problems urinating prior to taking Tamsulosin. After I started taking it, I got extreme urges to urinate but didn't pass much urine each time. I took it for three years before switching to stinging nettle which allows me to empty my bladder.

What form of stinging nettle do you take?
 
Im on finasteride for hair loss so hope my prostate stays small, this thread is scary, never want to put anything up the pee hole
