Prometheus is underappreciated.

I did watch a video on youtube a while ago trying to explain why the characters were so stupid. It went along the lines of the Prometheus mission was top secret and the crew was going to take two years off their lives just traveling to and from LV-226 (or whatever). I mean who would agree to a deep space mission, without even knowing the mission until your minutes away from landing on the planet. This meant the crew was made up of people who were NOT the "best" in their respect fields, but people in their fields that needed money and didn't have a lot to lose. Weyland didn't want the smartest crew, because he had his own agenda and he could care less if any of them survived. Weyland wanted to find the key to immortality.

The end killed the movie, stupid choices is part of being human, but just crashing full on and not even trying to destroy or alert earth before hand? Thats going from stupid to full human bomb, I don´t really remember the end in detail but It felt the decision to crash the ship came too easy.

Most horror movies don't feature characters that are supposed to be highly intelligent scientists on a space exploration mission.

Even a somewhat comparable storyline like The Thing, features a bunch of less fancy scientists, but they aren't constantly doing stupid shit to move the plot along. Good writing does that work instead.

In fact, anyone thinking about rewatching Prometheus should probably spend their time better & just rewatch The Thing instead.

Name a horror movie in which all the characters are geniuses.

The original cast of Alien weren't on Einstein's level of intellect.

Seriously, in this genre of movie, it's pretty much a requirement for the majority of the characters to be borderline retarded.
You are smart and intelligent. You see the bigger picture and don't fess over the irrelevant issues.

I loved the movie the first time I watched it. Then after watching a couple more times, I couldn't get over how dumb some of the Character decision's were.

I agree that on repeated watch, most will roll their eyes so hard on the characters decision making. I'm stoked on Covenant as well, I hope it's a good entry to the franchise. I haven't watch any trailers to prevent spoiling shit for myself.

When a 9.5/10 movies knocks itself down to a 6.5/10 movie, it's really annoying.

Also, here we go again.

I really liked the hip-hop Dr. that was bangin Noomi. Gave me a loooot of hope for the future. Then they put a 25 year old in old people make-up, instead of having an actual older actor?? Then the "father" scene falling flat. Then..................

great movie imo. wish there was more to the engineer story. maybe we'll get that in the new aliens coming out

Breathed life back into a dead franchise. Engineers are awesome.

latest

Yeh Engineers are pretty cool. They should be in more movies. But no Ridley Scott has decided to shelve them. Absolutely a shame. That is how the Alien universe should be continued. Not rehashing the first three with people running from xenomorphs.

The only redeeming thing was that the seemingly plain redhead chick turned out to have an amazing body during the self-surgery scene. That's it.

Most of it was idiotic. Oh the Engineers are hyper-intelligent creator beings, eh? I'm glad the moment one wakes up he wails atonally, then proceeds to thrash about like a vanilla gorilla - super advanced.

Apart from some truly mind-boggling stupid choices in tone, and a few characters, it was great.

That said, It did try to be two different movies. One, a heady, serious sci-fi flick, and two, a dumb monster movie. In an effort to satisfy everyone, it satisfied nobody completely. Hence, why it looks like we're strictly getting a dumb monster movie with the new one.

I'm really hoping the new one plays bait and switch with the trailers and movie, and it does actually end up being related to Prometheus more than it appears to be.

I thought it was a very good movie. I think it became cool to hate it.

One of the most disappointing and frustrating movies I've ever seen.

Prolly gonna check out this next one with hopes it rights the ship.
