Yeah, pro cycling is broken. Pretty much only reason teams exist is because few CEOs are cycling fans.

Protour teams don't get TV money, the race organizers get that cash. The system is broken w.r.t. how the money flows. OTOH the amount of advertising brand value for sponsors is huge.

I know of some salary details for a rider in 2006 and it was ridiculous how little he made (base pay) while being on the team with the biggest budget. To be fair, he had no living or food expenses and prize money split so maybe it wasn't as bad as it sounded but he did some work over the off season for extra money.

You're an elite, pro athlete and still need to work a 2nd job? Shit. WME-IMG should make their own cycling events. Not gonna lie if money is no expense and I make my own UCI, there will be no testing and the bike weight limit would be set at 5kg. I wanna see a bunch of Ivan Dragos breaking records year after year.

Most riders doing Il Lombardia will be doing Giro dell'Emilia this saturday. Well worth watching the final 40km when they are doing the finishing loop up the steep San Luca climb.
I remember a few years ago when Roglic lit the afterburners and just zoomed away from the select group including Mike Woods who uploaded his power data. Woods was doing ~800w and was dropped like a sack of potatoes.

Things are about to heat up at dell'Emilia, on second ascent from total of five. UAE setting the pace. Vine suprisingly has not crashed out yet.
