Prime Tim Sylvia vs Stipe Miocic

People often forget Timmeh was the best UFC champ until Stipe beat his record for defenses. Timmeh in his prime with that range and size should be favored against Stipe. Stipe is a geriatric past their prime Only fighter killer he hasn’t fought a dominant HW like Timmeh in their primes

Randy did pretty much force the fight on Sylvia after he found out about the injury training with him, the UFC were going to strip him if he didnt fight. I suspect thats the reason Extreme Couture died as a top level gym, nobody trusted Randy after that.

In his era of course you could argue Sylvia wasnt fighting in the deepest pool most of the time, I suspect he would have have serious problems with a few Pride names besides Fedor.

Style wise though I think if this became a prolonged striking make he would be a very significant test for Stipe plus if Stipe does rush him he did have potential to counter.

Big Tim’s best UFC wins are against Arlovski, Vera, and Monson. Who are these killers in their prime he has defeated? DC, Overeem, Ngonnou, and Werdum are better wins then anyone Sylvia has beaten.
 
It would be a good fight. I'd lean toward Stipe, but you never know. Sylvia could fight. I know some of you weren't around to see Sylvia in real time, but the guy was as tough and dangerous as anybody we've seen at heavyweight.

Werdum and Reem were fighting even before Timmeh won that gold. Some real in their prime young studs they were when Stipe beat them a decade or two of CTE later lol

Sylvia had a short prime, granted he was on PEDs during it, when he annihilated Ricco. He looked super strong with ironclad takedown defense, very powerful, and relatively fast at that time. With modern PED avoidance consultants and updated training techniques, it's not far fetched at all to think he could compete with Stipe.
 
Stipe wins. Sylvia's best chance would be to point fight with his jab fest routine, but Stipe wouldn't have none of that shit. He's too quick and moves too much for Timmeh.
 
Juicy Timmy was quite good. It would be like a much better Struve.
 
I think its heavyweight....soo either guy could win

Tim had a nice high kick and good straight punches and was long and fought like it

Stipe is faster and more well rounded and isnt gunna quit...

Both have ko power...

You can try to spin it any way you want. Stipe is the most accomplished UFC heavyweight. He has more top 5 wins and titles than Tim Sylvia, and he has beaten much better fighters. Timmy would’ve gotten his ass kicked by guys like JDS and DC, because he couldn’t handle guys with speed. Which is why he would struggle against Miocic. Even old man lhw Couture almost flash ko’d him.
Stipe most likely pieces him up, because he is faster, more athletic, throws better combos, has better head movement, better wrestling, and has proved he can fight at a higher pace in later rounds. Sylvias length could cause problems, and he had a good submission game, but prime against prime, there isn’t much Sylvia does better than Stipe.
 
Tim was too slow for Stipes good boxing I think.
 
Miocic all the way on this matchup. Sylvia was decent in his time, but fighters are better now overall than they were then. Stipe is faster, has better wrestling, and better cardio. I don't think Tim would be a top 5 guy nowadays.
 
Id favor Stipe but he got stopped by Struve. Sylvia could def hurt him.

If prime Tim and Stipe fought 10 times, I think Tim would win 5 of them.

Most of you are acting like he had no chance but it’s a winnable fight for him. Still, I don’t see a clear winner.
 
Miocic would take Sylvia down in every round of the fight and keep him there until the round ended.
