Prime Gomi fought bigger guys with more well-rounded skill-sets, had more punching power, heart, and an iron chin.

Interestingly, the guys that the shot Gomi lost to in the UFC could (and one already has) all beat McGregor too.

Gomi is my second favorite fighter of all time next to Lord Fedor! For me in his prime Gomi is the best LW of all time, I know some are going to laugh or whatever but go back watch his pride fights and watch his striking(boxing,tons of body shots with wide swooping powerful punches then followed up with knees to the body over & over)! At that time, he mixed everything up so perfect, and would beat on his opponents body & head like none that I can remember! His fight with Pulver, both fights with Azeredo, the Fucking FINISH in the first fight vs Azeredo! The Kwajiri fight he put a beating on your man, the Jean Silva fight was dope too! He would have mauled Conor, ko in the final minutes of the first round! No way Conor can take prime Gomi baseball pitch shoryuken power punch. Gomi was so gassed in his fight vs Nick Diaz that in the second round right before Nick pulled off one of the greatest submissions EVER, he got backed into the corner of the ring and threw a SHORYUUUUUUUUUUKEN power punch that landed & broke Nicks orbital bone! Hence the reason Nick went for the kill, train to kill always, do or die, Gomi did the desperate Conor terrible takedown technique, fucking stoned to da bizzzzoooone Diaz gogoplatta 209 bitches! Sakurai had much better boxing, his leg kicks were on par with Aldo's, he had the TDD, was good off his back, super difficult to submit.
Sakurai did't have one blatant weakness. Time seemed to catch up with him instead.
