Overeem admitted that he never submitted Bas in training and Bas is the man i'd bet on in the standup.

Was just making a point about size. It's not everything and Reem not being a big power wrestler it will mean less against a guy like Bas. Like i said before his speed and in ring IQ is too much for Reem.

Ring IQ? Overeem has like 50 fights against many champions. He has seen pretty much everything. I don't think there is a steep difference.

Speed only gets you so far when facing a 265lb monster kickboxer, and Overeem was pretty good at cutting off the ring in K1 and teeing off in the corner. And Reem has good enough wrestling to take him down if he wants.

People are acting as if this is like Fedor vs Zulu. Overeem knows what he is doing.

Today's Overeem would wreck a prime Bas Rutten.


Bas was a pretty small HW to begin with and if we're taking Bas from 97-99 (with his skill set from that era) there is no way he would beat even todays Reem. A prime horse meat Reem would wreck him pretty badly.

There is a myth about Bas that is bigger than the actual legend. He was very good for his time but his current persona causes people to inflate his skills.

I don't see how he survives one round with Ubereem.

This, I don't think you can even call Bas a good striker for MMA or Kickboxing, all his style was made only for Pancrase rules, throw kicks without setups and no danger or getting punch in the face.

Overeem gets the TD and keeps the fight there for an easy TKO.

Overeem fought and won against Badr Hari, old Peter Aerts, Tyrone Spong and Saki in K1, Bas only fought an old Frank Lobman and that fight clearly shows why his style only works for Pancrase rules.
